Russian Forum section, why?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

why do the Russians have their own forum section?

It feels a little bit like cold war, the Russians on the one side, and the Western countries on the other side.

Because a lot of Russians play the game. Arma 2 is developed by a development house in the Czech Republic.

From what I understand, Arma 2 itself is more popular with the European player base than it is in the Western hemisphere.

If you played Arma 2 and joined a random server, you bet your arse that you'll find plenty of Russian speakers on there.

No, not really. It's because not all Russian speaking people have good knowledge of English. Yet, some Russian players are supporting this mod from the very beginning, hence their own section.

This is true, arma is pretty popular here.

Because Russians are half of game's population, and most of us can't speak English, or can't speak it well enough. There are a lot of Russians in English part of the forums though, so that doesn't feel like cold war, no.

So do the French or the Germans (like me). I think it divides the community. Or do you have any idea what they are talking about "down there"

That's what copy-paste+google translate is for, my friend.

Yes, I suspected something like this.

But I´d be satisfied, if you could stop nuking our servers.

Rocket loves russians and their cut throat style of gameplay so he rewards them with a forum.

If gamePopulation.percentage >= 50 then forumSection.language = gamePopulation.language;

And yes, stereotypes aren't helpful. No idea why people always think sinister ulterior motives when people talk in another language...it's like they think it's a cult. TBH i'd love to learn Russian, the language fascinates me, but I've never had the time to try to pick it up, and I'm generally terrible with language...learning spanish/italian was a huge headache and I've forgotten most of it these days.

Also, the same thing we do every night Pinky, try to take over the world!

Its a good way to keep track of the hackers if they have their own forum section.

Yeah. Talking about stereotypes. Please, don't even start the "all Russians are hackers".

About "why not use Google translate". Because it's translation is really bad, when it translates to Russian. And believe me, You don't want to read Russian translated to English.

All ArmA games are released in the East, then Germany, then the rest of €urope and last but not least, the US of A.

About 6 months between first & last.

Maybe things will change with ArmAIII.

I've been playing the latest DLC for the last couple of days, the little men do not speak English.
