I'm going to keep this as short as possible, so I apologize for the fragmented sentences.

I was heading to Electro via the west when I heard .50 BMG shots. I proceeded up the hill that faces the Power Plant and found a .50 BMG Sniper that may or may not have seen me. All I had was a crowbar from my fresh spawn, so I charged in ala Leroy Jenkins. He ran for a bit and then AltF4-ed when I closed in. His buddy picked me off right after that. I don't care that I died or even was sniped by douche Electro campers. I'm OK with that. But you're going to AltF4 against a crowbar? Really? When you had good gear AND 5 other clan member on watching you back?! BabyBaboon.SoGG... I will be hunting you now.

I'm sorry for the rant. I know people post these all the time and it's annoying... But I had to get it out.

Thank you all for not flaming. I some how expected it, but this board surprises me :)

I guess my crowbar is ultra deadly/intimidating. FEAR MY CROWBAR! I just don't get why people do that. I was top geared (via solo running) and was very attached to my gear. I was in a fire fight in Stary that I wasn't going to win. 3 vs 1. I took out one of them and injured another, but accepted my death. I was my own fault for being careless in a hostile area and also trying to be friendly. I had plenty of time to AltF4 or just Disconnect but I didn't. It just wasn't right to do so.

I miss my gear, but, oh well. Life goes on. I miss when this game was a lot friendlier... But I accept it's change and am dealing with it. I can't blame people for shooting on sight now-a-days.

Yeah, crowbar is fierce weapon! It's not like you can shoot back with you.50 cal or sidearm ;) I can't wait for the moment, when altF4 gets fixed - I want to see faces of d/c-ers after that!

You won't need to see it. You'll know about it from all the crying on the forums and people asking for rocket to get their character back when they were supposedly killed by hackers.

The ones who shoot first and have the jump on you, fire 3 or 4 shotgun slugs at you from about 10 metres, miss, for me to then turn around and put 8 rounds back, 4-5 on target and drop them for them to alt+f4 are the worst! People can't just accept death...they're too weak to!

Still happens to us all the time, we all know the feeling of the fully geared alt-f4'ers... it seems the only somewhat geared no longer alt-f4.

Had a run in yesterday, we were gathered up for a powow around DC most still coming in from the woods when an as50' cracked next to me and shot my buddy, I spot the guy across the way... and poof... gone... notice a player slot opening up on the server, 10 mins later hes back and shoots another guy... this lagged on for another 2 shootings, no more casualties though.

Then all hell broke loose as invisible teleporting hackers killed every living thing on the server -.- Including the server hopping bastard. Which made me smile. Restarted in cherno with 6 mates... we kinda formed 2 man deathsquads and looted every inch of cherno... funnily enough the geared people that stalk noobs in cherno/elektro have absolutely no real combat experience, are extremely clumsy and have no situational awareness. All they have is gear, gear we wanted. We walked out with 3 as50s, 1 l85, 2 m4 sds and a mk 48. Too bad they couldnt drop their ghillies... we found 2 of those on our way out aswell though :D

Thats how it kinda goes. I died last night from my own stupidity, trying to sneak up on 2-3 ghillies. I had decent gear and wanted to get close behind them to stick some M4A3 rounds in their backs. Got close but one of them who I thought was running off so left them, turned around and shot me.

Respawned in Cherno, ran around for about 10mins in cherno and got an Alice pack, food, drink, matches, an AKM with 2 mags, m1911, hunting knife. The only thing I was missing was a hatchet and I could easily just head up north and survive. Soon found that at the southern airfield. All in all, I was mid tier gear within about 20mins of spawning. This game isn't hard, and people cry over dying. Besides, restarting is the best part!!

@Op I feel ya man, I absolutely hate anyone who Alt-F4 especially when they start the engagements or are way better geared than the other person. Quitting out of game for fear of losing gear is fucking retarded, and honestly shows they have no class or integrity.

The bad thing about this is that you won't probably won't be able to abort to escape zombies anymore and giving how bugged zombies are and how crazy they run at you - plus the fact they aggro from miles away sometimes - will make this very frustrating.

I'm hoping a 10 second disconnect timer gets introduced, so you stay still for 10 seconds before disconnecting, if interrupted by being hit, it cancels the disconnect (and by moving, you can also cancel the disconnect in those 10 seconds). That would offer some help to stop people doing it in those sorts of situations or in the heat of battle, since any normal disconnect is done somewhere safe.

Only downside is it could piss some people off who get a power cut or something, but... that can't be prevented.

they fixed alt f4. You can no longer Just hit ALT F4 to escape from the game. You have to do a step or two more now. So no more crying about it.

If you hit ALT F4 it will being up a command menu for you to shout orders out.

Almost every online game on the market has a logout timer.

Yes, it does suck if you have a power outage or your little brother yanks out your network cable... but shit happens, deal with it.

Unless you are playing on some shitty network in the middle of Congo or Bolivia, or connected via your smartphone, then most people rarely get disconnected from their network.

As I said in another thread, due to being disconnected over the years I have died in MMO's, been destroyed in FPS games, had not one, but several of my ships in EVE get blown up (which relates alot to DayZ and losing items mind you), needing to redo loads of content in RTS games and singelplayer games like Skyrim as well as several other cases of having to redo stuff because shit happened and I lost connection.

But I can deal with that shit, because I know the logout timers in online games are there for a reason... to avoid exploits such as deaggroing hordes of mobs or removing your character from the server to avoid being killed by players.

So my message to Rocket is simple.

Add a 30 second logout timer and do it right now.

This is alpha, it's experimenting, so do an experiment in 1.7.2.5 and add 30 second logout timer... and I guarantee you that a huge amount of ALT-F4 complaints are automagically going to fade away from these forums.

30 seconds is too much? Not really, because you should log out in a safe location, which means NOT in a deerstand, inside barracks at NWA or inside firestation in Cherno. Find a bush, lie down, log out. Easy as that.

Furthermore, you can't really adjust a timer up or down until you at least added the logout timer and then experimented with it to see the effect and feedback.

Get on it already!
