SamboS1ice 0 Posted July 31, 2012 Its pretty safe to say with nearly a million unique players, that DayZ is one of the most popular mods of all time and new people are joining everyday.I wonder if word has gotten back to these companies, that there brand of food/drink is featured in this smash hit of a mod. I wonder if they could face legal troubles over this in any way. Maybe they'll just be cool & take it as some free advertising. It's just something I've been wondering about lately. kozzy420 39 Posted July 31, 2012 Yeah I went and bought a case of pepsi after a long dayz mission the other day (:They should pay the dayz dudes for advertisement!In reality though, if I was the devs I would make up some drink NAME or something (hell why not have a community contest with who can design the best original can!) so they don't get sued. The_Man 393 Posted July 31, 2012 I honestly never bought Heinz beans before this game. I never tried them but I finally did and they were pretty good if you like beans in a plain tomato sauce. klesh 2423 Posted October 10, 2012 I was wondering this myself, especially after seeing the DayZ mod page which prominently displays generic versions of beans and soda.Now that a profit is to be made with the standalone, Rocket and BI would be best to figure out what these companies would want. They probably already have. I imagine the Coca-Cola and Pepsi brands would not like being in the game together. Depending on their reactions, one or the other may want exclusivity in the game. "Make us the only soda or you'll get a copyright infringement case."I wonder if BI (or any game company for that matter),pays some kind of royalties to the gun manufacturers to use their copyrighted weapons?I remember reading that EA has some agreement with Porsche that their cars can only appear in EA games...This can all be avoided of course if we just have generic beans, cola, pasta etc. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Seacher 3 Posted October 10, 2012 Coke and Pepsi do not play well together, there is a reason you can only buy either Coke or Pepsi in certian resturants, movie theaters, and amusement parks; they both spend big money to be the 'Drink" of choice.
