Spawned in Kamenka, where to go?

Twice in a row now. The last time I looted Kamenka, went north to Zelenogorsk nad looted Pavlovo, but I hadn't found much of use. A few sodas, no food, one 1911 with just a few mags all together (didn't spot any deer stands, and I was getting hungry, so I didn't have much time to look for them)... Coming to Zelenogorsk I have looted the barn on the east and a few houses between the barn and a supermarket. Aggroed a decent number of zombies, they seem to notice me much more with the 1.7.2.4. release. It's more fun this way, but sometimes it's just impossible with them spawning all over the place around you - at least it has been that way for me.

So I finally have the supermarket in sight. I prone and start going towards it. One of the crouching zombies spotted me while I was prone and staying still. So I just ran towards the supermarket. Killed 5-6 of them trying to get in with a Winchester I found in the barn. Then more of them cam through the back door. Killed 2 and suddenly there are about 10 more at the main entrance. I ran out through the back door (I finally found a can of beans and consumed it in the supermarket), Only two followed me, so I ran until I though it was safe to shoot them... about 200m from the town. Shot them, Two more come running at me. The last one knocked me unconscious and killed me. So I respawn... again - Kamenka.

Now I don't really know what's the best option here. I want to go north to Zelenogorsk again, cause it seems safer than going to Cherno or Elektro. But I don't know if I should just try to get there or try the same way - looting every town I go through. I don't feel like it, and my previous attempt to do so didn't produce much profit.

What's the best thing to do here, guys?

Hit zelen supermarket maybe, then the barn on the northeast side of town for a possible shotgun or lee enfield. Then your best bet is probably starry or even the NW airfield (even though it's dangerous).

Normally I would say "run a lot, because the zombies won't bother you", but I too have had my first experience with an actual zombie horde since 1.7.2.4.

Even so, I'll give you the same advice. When I've seen hordes in 1.7.2.4, it's been a result of excessive shooting with loud guns. Run around, get loot, and avoid shooting where possible. This typically means trying to lose most of your aggro before entering a building, learning to lure zombies to one side of a room so you can squeeze around them, and carrying a smoke grenade if available.

Also, don't try to get rid of chasing zombies by shooting them in the open. They zig-zag so much that it's better to just keep running until you find some nice, low pine trees to lose LoS in.

Edit: also, as for a Kamenka spawn: just don't go west. I personally see a fresh spawn as the perfect time to hit an airfield (Balota) or Cherno, both of which are directly east of you in Kamenka.

Yeah, getting to Zeleno supermarket is my main goal for now, because, as I have written already, it seems to me as a safer place than Cherno or Electro, and it's closer too. I was fine with zombies unless they spawned really close, and I didn't see them spawn. Except for the one in Zeleno.

But I don't think I was clear in my OP. I asked if it was smarter to go directly to Zeleno, or trying to loot Kamenka and Pavlovo like I did last time? If I don't find any food again, it's taking a fair amount of time, and by the time I reach Zeleno, I have to hurry to find something to eat... I'm sure I won't go east. Trying to gear up in Zeleno seems like the smartest thing at the moment. I could go to Balota if there weren't those graphical glitches which make that area unplayable. Unless they fixed it?

Yea your doing it right. Head north from there, make sure you loot the dear stand not far north of Kemenke along the road then either skip or loot the few houses in the first town then head to Zeleno super market and the house directly behind it. There is some other decent loot targets in the town but up to you if you bother with them as you should be set after the supermarket. From there head whereever you want. If you want to you can head to the NWAF or even cross the map to Berzino to get the city loot (hospital, mil camp).

I'm in that area myself, did pretty well loot wise myself, a bit short on ammo, but I play sneaky sneaky so its not a problem as long as I have a few rounds if needed.

And that's what I will do then! I just hate the fact I lost so much time looting Kamenka and Pavlovo for almost nothing, and then got killed right after I finally reached my goal. At least now I'll have more time looking for deer stands.

Ok, this is the second time someone recommended Balota. Did they fix the gfx glitch there?

This is my western route...

-Hit the three deer stands between Kamenka and Pavlovo

-Bypass Pavlovo and head east towards Bor for three more stands.

-NW into Zeleno, hitting the barn on the hill before going to the market.

-N/NW out of Zeleno up to Myshkino where there's four

-Cut between Pustoshka & Vybor to hit the deer stands west of Stary. Also be on the lookout for choppers in that area.

-Run the tents at Stary and leave out the NE side of town for the three stands north of Novy.

-Head NW to the airfield. Depending on server pop and zed count, I may only hit the southern barracks.

That's just what I do. Unfortunately, I know I'm not the only one that does this, so be wary of other players.

Barns are always great places to shake off zombies, since it seems they'll follow you in, but not neccesarily follow you around inside. Check every floor on each side of the barn. Between that barn and the one in Zelenogorsk are four deer stands, so hit those, then continue to the barn. From the barn to the market in Zelengorsk is a large field, which I'm sure you're aware of. If you're caught, just run to the market, shut all the doors, and hope they don't just walk through the walls. Remember to stay in the back if you need to pause, but move through the front as quickly as possible, since the windows can easily give you away.

No, it happens to me every time, logging out, shutting down the game and restarting it fixes the problem long enough to loot the place. What you really want is the little military compound with 4 deer stands. I've found AK rifles and M1014 shotguns there.
