Tired of all the COD style bandits who snipe you from miles away when you're on the spawn beach. Wanting a better playing expirience where people work together, so does everyone else who isn't just a FPS gamer who sucks and has to shoot at people who dont have guns. Here's a petition for PVP-less servers.

Petition? Because this is a democracy?

*sigh* If you can't stand the heat, get out of Elektro. PVP is a vital part of this mod. If you don't like the KOS, then lets get people grouping and using voip more, doing random acts of kindness and paying it forward, not ask for pvp to be removed.

Yeah! Let's have the safety of entering the ever-so-popular NW Airfield and Stary Sobor for its amazing weapons and equipment! *Sarcasm*

Sorry, but I'm not signing this. It's not just ideal. I've come to learn how to adapt to things such as 'Snipers' shooting players from fresh spawns, and actually avoid such contact. DayZ is a matter of trial and error, and once you've sorted out most of it, you'll know what to do.

Dans, while I don't believe a petition is the way to go, I can empathize with your cause. I submit to you that a better way to go about improving our gameplay is to work together on taking the game back for other like-minded players, you and I included, not by changing the game that we love, but by changing the playerbase.

One of the most beautiful aspects of DayZ is that it is built to be -realistic- in every way possible. That realism extends to the psychology of the world's inhabitants. In the real world there is no higher power to petition a change in the rules. In the real world we band together to create the conditions required to foster the behavior we desire.

So I urge you to consider re-focusing your drive on creating those conditions. I will support that cause. Here are some ideas:

-Create or join a Survivor clan

-Provide support to other Survivor clans

-Be another voice asking for improvement in 'end-game' content so players who are otherwise good don't go bad due to boredome on their way out

-Seek to understand your enemies such that you can not only better avoid their attacks but also to turn them away from that path

Good luck,

~lulz

I agree on the principle, but not on the method - let's not change the game to make it harder for players who have chosen to play in a certain way (only cheating and hacking should be punishable and prevented). There are a lot of survivor groups out there who are fed up with the PvP and have started working actively to curtail it within the game.

Our group is here, but you can probably find many others by skimming through the forums:

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/42919-law-to-lawless-lands/

You are free to join up, no strings attached or stay independent but please - this game is a sandbox that's just showing the worst of humanity now: bored players PvPing since that's easy and pretty damn fun. Try helping out others - it's hard, you die a lot, but you'll feel pretty good about yourself when you manage to make somebody's day.

I strongly disapprove of a server system that would allow for servers with no PvP enabled. It's really against the spirit of the game itself in my opinion... I'd much rather see player driven organizations that effectively combat the PvP mentality rather than some abstract ruleset. There are already many groups that attempt to create such an environment through sheer will and manpower, but none have been overly successful as of yet.

The key is to design a system that can effectively react to PvP situations. Prevention is literally impossible, but an organized force that could quickly and efficiently respond to an incident and eliminate the offending parties would go a great way towards deterring such activity. This would only be possible, of course, once combat disconnection and other exploits are largely fixed. This is similar to the principle that most western police organizations are founded upon. Get to the scene of the incident, prevent further harm, and deal with the offending party. While it's never so straightforward, not even in reality, I believe a system like this is what we need instead of a silly checkbox for "PvP or PvE" servers.

Once an effective way to make such an organization or system is found, it will likely have great success. For an obvious example, look at Dr. Wasteland's success in founding a system of medics who can respond within a reasonable time frame to any ailments. Once someone works out a way to do this with a sort of "police" force, we can start rebuilding our society!

Plus, if less people are getting shot at, there's less for me to do in-game :)

Well said. I would like to add that rather than relying even on a well-planned reaction is the pro-active method. That is to say that you provide incentives to players who play how you want; however that might be. That in conjunction with a list of players who have proven to be against your cause and you have your power.

What you can then do is record all users who, for example, are griefing/PK'ing in an unsolicited fashion and not allow them the incentives you would otherwise provide. Say you have a certain city quarantined, provide medical services to any players not on this blacklist, provide resources and a safe haven, etc. You then disallow anyone on the blacklist from partaking.

A similar system would be required in a real world situation if you were to rebuild society; the beginnings of a system, a government per se.
