Temperature is broken FYI

Recommended Posts

You can get sick now for being in the rain...the thermometer blinks....but there is nothing on the debug monitor anymore (the temperature)

We don't really need anything on the debug monitor. There's no "Hunger: 78%" or "Thirst: 24%". The debug monitor will ultimately go away--that's what the icons along the right edge are for. It doesn't really make sense to know how many milliliters of blood you have, anyway.

You do understand that the stated goal of the project is to find ways to remove the HUD entirely (of course the debug pane will be gone as well). It's only a matter of finding ways to convey the old HUD information via other mechanics.

So.. it's broken cause it's not in the debug screen?

You do realize that when DayZ is finished there will be no more debug screen at all, right?

With the temperature being taken out from the debug monitor you will only notice that you are getting too cold when it is too late. Wouldn't you feel that it is getting cold IRL and you have to do something about it? ATM I can't really see why the temperature was taking out.

Stop treating this as a game and start looking at it as a work in progress. Rocket has said many times that he does not want a HUD at all (let alone a debug panel). Getting cold will be handled later on with visual cues, you start shivering, you hear audio cues.

Stop freaking out over how things are now (in a half-game) and start thinking about how it will play out in a finished game. fuck.

The temp gauge is broken.

I spent a few hours on a night server last night. My temperature gauge never dropped below a slight greenish red. Then I start coughing. I checked the gauge, thought it was someone on ts, started coughing again. Decided to light a campfire, sat beside it, kept coughing, caught a cold and started losing health. Had to keep eating just to make it back to where where I could find anti-biotics. The gauge never changed color once.

The temp gauge is broken.

Hello. this is why it was removed. Rocket has said a bunch of times that the temperature system is broken. No surprise.

I do think that 1.7.2.4 has a problem. Some of my friends have gotten sick because they didn't realize their temp was too low. It seems like the thermometer icon doesn't change as it should.

Hello. The temperature reading from the debug monitor was removed. The temperature system and the temperature gauge are still in the game. I was saying that the gauge was broken, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah something is funky with the temp stuff. Rocket has recently said that he plans on overhauling the health/sickness/damage system. I'd say this should be addressed somewhat soon.

SystemiK... There's no reason to jump on the guy for pointing this out. If anything it should just be in a different section of the forums.

I understand that. But the reading in the debug monitor was not reporting correctly, hence it was disabled. Sorry if I was unclear.

The temperature gauge changes slightly compared to the other gauge's, so it's just terrible in comparison. Unfortunate that you find out when it's too late. Hopefully it becomes much more noticeable.

I don't really care for the debug monitor other than knowing how many zombies, people, and bandits I have killed.

Can't wait to see how new ways to display blood levels and temperature are going to refined and put in. Besides, I rarely get cold because I usually make a fire every so often and sit in front of it to ensure I don't get too cold.
