What goals do you set for yourself?

What makes you come back to the game? You can get all of the items you will ever need just by going to a major city. Why leave? I am new and I want to know what some other people do to have more fun.

Im on a planned trip 2 days now moved to cherno geared up with looted things and lots of medical supplys, and moved up to airfield, there i stayed for like 1 day and found lots of great weapons and other interesting things. then i went to berezino just to see whats going on there, was pretty nice.. well as next part of my big trip im going to find a car for me and my mate.

well i survived since now and had TONS of dangerous situations.. like sniper attacks n stuff, all the things which happen on your adventure make the game really fun.

So far I'm just exploring and enjoying that i came across the MOD this early and see it (hopefully) evolve into a great addictive MOD.

Other goals include:

Personal mapping of lucrative places other than the obvious airfield and such.

Finding a pair of NVG's

Finding people to trust and get some group experience

Probably some sort of PK hunting - if the bandit uniform stays

I usually give myself new challenges and objectives every time I die. Examples include: "find and kill a bandit," "kill a survivor," "find all the survival supplies" (knife, rangefinder, map, compass, NVG), "first weapons I come across I have to give it to the next friendly survivor I see," "drop everything upon spawn and continue the game from there (balls hard mode btw)."

Right now I'm in the middle of a multiday journey, the only goal is to survive until I get to my destination town. Now that boats are apparently in, I might have to go for one of those :P

My current goal is finding NVGs, since I pretty much have everything else I need now.

The next step would be to get a car working again, but It isn't possible to even do that at the moment.

Last night I shot someone from over 1.5km away with my dragunov. First show missed, second shot was a headshot. Saw his head explode. All my future goals are to hang around in the mountains and shoot people in loot places.

Goal: See more heads explode.

Find enough canteens and equipment to get up north for better scavenging. Shoot if target's a threat.

Main goal is rather simple: "stay alive"

A good secondary goal could be: "stay civilized" (harder than you might think, in a situation like that)

And whatever else works for you.

Locate Griff, kill him, wear his face like some sort of Griff Mask...then, go on a massive killing spree while everyone thinks I'm him.

But mostly just kill Griff...That is my goal in Day Z, it's nothing personal...in fact I like the guy, hence the reason I want him to die at my hands and not someone elses. <3

Get starter equipment in a major city (then/or) head north, get better gear, keep looking for a tents/NVG, get shot after making a terrible decision, rinse, repeat.

Current goal is to stay alive for as long as possible while getting some friends into this.
