Will Dayz ever have a main goal?

Hello everyone,

My name is Chris or MrTrees and dayz is a great mod I love it but what is the main goal? Well atm there is none its just get supplies get guns team up and die and start all over agian. So I think there should be a leveling system or some other type of main goal cause after a while you will run out of stuff to do, or gather. So a leveling system that will let you reload faster or somthing along those lines you might not even get any perks just a main goal besides the basics of gathering stuff.

My suggestions are to add somthing along those lines just a thought. : ]

Edit: That was rude of me, sorry. But no, there is no goal to the game. If you must think of one to play a game, think about survival.

completely stupid. the game is realistic that means no ranks or goals just survive if you get bored dont play it anymore!

It's a hoarding/broken bone simulator.

Goal:

Hoard ALL the vehicles!

Dupe ALL the gear!

Break ALL the bones!

stupid i would think by "leveling" you age and you get slower need more food and water.

Scavenge.

Slay.

Survive.

You get to choose what you scavenge, who and what you slay, and how best to survive.

For the OP. You must remember there is still SO more that is going to go into this mod. Soon it will be a stand alone and once its a stand alone that adds SO much more potential because from what I understand coding gets easier. Rocket has been interviewed multiple times and he has revealed such ideas as building underground bases and fortifying those said bases. He has said he is entertaining the idea of safe zones which I would assume would be instance based to prevent outskirt campers. Its just an alpha. SO much more is going to be added.

All of you who just reply "no" you add nothing to these forums.

There will be two leveling mechanics:

Beard length

And

Clothing filthiness

If you watched the power point show at that thing, there were two survivors and one was marked newbie and looked all clean and the other was marked someone cool and was all gnarly and grizzly adamsed.

Other than that, I make my own goals. I don't need someone to give them to me.

The thing that the game aches for is local community. So you get used to that clan that's dominating the nw airfield, or that sniper on ridge x... Now it's just random people on random servers with not consistency or cohesion.

Probably not, but I agree that it should have a main goal.

Does anyone else remember those zombie survival games on Newgrounds where you're trying to reach the port city so you can escape? Something similar to that would be interesting, but a leveling system in a shooter game just stacks the deck against new players in pvp.

Now it's just random people on random servers with not consistency or cohesion.

My personal exp with that is because once my clan finds a stable server to call our home it ends up not updating correctly, gets laggy etc etc... It would be amazing to just inhabit one specific server. makes it hard to keep camps but hey. Dont get attached right?

Personally for me, i dont want to have any main goals,, like you will get there and you won, survived, time to next life, i love this mod because its about survival .. survival is goal for me .. so in my opinion ... it should keep it like how is it now. :)

- Bean baby: Eat 200 cans of beans

- FSM: Eat 200 cans of pasta

- Professional russian: Kill 100 zombies with AK74 headshots

- White russian: Drink 100 bottles of vodka

- One Shot One Kill: 50 kills with 50 bullets, in a row

- Heavy drinker: Consume 200 cans of soda

- Innocent bystander: Be shot at and hit 100 times by other players but not shooting back

- Chop shop: 100 hatchet kills

- Giving head: Being killed by hatchet chopping of your head

- Easy rider: Drive a motorcycle 1000 kilometers

- Death From Above: 100 kills as a chopper gunner

- Master of Deception: Lure away 200 zombies with thrown items (must use all types of cans/bottles/flares etc, at least one of each)

- Meth Head: Use 200 morphines

- Meat Head: Eat 200 cooked meat

- Heavy Nose Bleeder: Bleeding lightly (stopping by itself without bandage) 10 times

- Far Out: Use 500 morphines, or travel 50 kilometers outside of the map

- Son of a gun: Carry one of every weapon in the game at least once

- Packin' heat: Fill up your inventory and pack with only heat packs

and so on...

you know thats actually cool you got my vote. achievements are different from what hes thinking "levels" etc

Here's how I hope the final version of Day Z will play out:

Phase One: Surviving - Scavenge, kill and loot. (Basically what you can do now except repair vehicles.)

Phase Two: Building - Use teamwork and mechanisms like pulleys to move large and heavy objects (use manual vehicles like push-bikes with trailers to transport heavy materials longer distances) to repair vehicles and construct fortifications. For example you couldn't pick up a car engine by yourself, you must get two other players to help lift it with a pulley and lower it into the car body (or trailer for transport). Another example would be carrying a sheet of corrugated iron between two people (too large for one) to use as a building material.

Phase Three: Ruling - Expand your fort into a thriving settlement, engaging in trade and warfare with other settlements, recruiting citizens and warding off bandit raids. Your aim is now to maintain power and stability.

Phase Four: Winning! - Within the sturdy walls of your ramshackle kingdom you set about achieving the pinnacle of success in Day Z, the mark of the true King of Chernarus: growing the most epic beard in the land!

The game has a goal, it's to stay alive. The problem is that the game isn't playing out as it was intended due to a few corrupting forces.

Blowing in the wind: Blowing up 20+ zombies/players with one grenade

Bloody mess: Killing 30+ zombies/players at once with any kind of explosive

Boner: Breaking bone 20 times

Out of this world: Being unconscious for a total of 1 hour

Wired: Putting up 100 wire fences

Punkbuster: Taking down 100 wire fences

Got stuck?: Crashing a car into a hedgehog, making the car stick to it

Got ammo?: Putting a total of 100 ammo items in other players packs

Good samaritan: Giving blood transfusions for a total of 100000 blood

First aid specialist: Bandaging other players 100 times

Pickpocket: Stealing from 5 different players packs

Bad santa: Killing 5 players by putting armed grenades in their packs (Fallout-style)

Munchies: Over eating by at least 5 times as much as you need, over a whole day

Hey there!: Salute 50 players at close distance

Sitting duck: Sit down and do nothing for 5 minutes while people are fighting in close proximity
