For all the headshot fans:

This is not Counter Strike. And getting headshots is so much about luck when the random bullet spread on handguns is so massive. Hell, cant even hit a tree 10 meters away with a makarov when aiming directly at the center of the tree. And add the nice little desync issues we have had like forever in the mod.

found an m1911 in elektro in an office building. I see a guy come into the building. He only had a hatchet. He saw me and comes to the room im in. He charges toward me and i unload a full clip into his chest. While i reload he comes and swings his hatchet twice and im dead. Bullshit.

Called lag and shit aim, if you ask me!!!! <_<

Go for the head always !! ;)

Sorry to break this to you but its a fucking game, not perfection in response to ballistic penetration of the human body simulator!!!! :rolleyes:

PVP will go downhill, if ppl start shooting at each other with their toothpicks. almost anything besides snipers seems totally retarded for pvp now.

So if the player starts with a vest, why not also start with a revolver?

And for god sake stop saying L2headshot, just understand that it's almost impossible to get a headshot in this game unless ur enemy is just standing still.

The guns have been nerfed pretty badly...

Revolver, M1911: 1389 damage, down from 4500

1389*7=9723 and if this person with the hatchet had just spawned he would have 12000 blood.... Soooooooo he wouldnt have died. End of story

No, survivors are wearing ballistic vests that protects them from handguns and some primaries. You would have died if that scenario happened in real life and you didn't shoot his head.

It is absolutely hilarious that you think seven .45 caliber rounds to the chest would not stop someone coming at you with a hatchet. Even if not even one round penetrated they'd be gasping for air as the impacts would knock the wind out of them and have them flat on their back. The assailant wouldn't know whether the shots had penetrated or not.

Naw, wont help. Try it sometime. At least the makarov I used for a long time had a maximum accurate range of 5 meters. Beyond that, the bullets randomly spread everywhere around the iron sights. I did some ''sharpshooting'' with my M1911 today. There was a bugged zombie who was just standing still. I was at a range of 15 meters, aimed directly at his head and it took the entire clip to finally land a shot where I was aiming. And no, I wasnt exhausted, in pain or whatever excuse anyone could make up.

Don't even think about adding the realism argument. It's a game against zombies. That is far from realistic.

Oh well, in that case bring back global chat...

Realistically it should, the force involved in an 1911 round can tear a mans chest apart, bone fragments would puncture lungs, main arteries and if a shot to the heart would kill more or less instantly. Not because he said so but because Rocket wants a realistic game and the beta patch has reduced that realism.

That assumes you truly did "unload an entire clip" and that all of those shots actually hit.

In every online game since dial up, these stories tend to be heat of the moment horror tales... and upon further investigation (demo, other players side of it) it was REALLY 3 shots fired, and only 1 hit.

7 shots of 1911, all to the chest, still kill a player.

No. The 1911 now deals 1389 damage per hit and players have a maximum of 12000 life, so 9 shots (1+ clips) to centre mass are required to kill a player (ignoring bleeding). I've personally a whole clip from an 1911 into another player and they have lived.

If a guy is charging towards you with melee weapon - shoot his legs first, after that you will have time to reload if you still can't get his head

Yeah but seriously, one shot from an m1911 to the chest should kill.

You would think but in reality it wouldn't at most stun someone before they keep fighting again, guns aren't as effective Asa people think. It takes either luck or skill to kill some, because simply put our body's are pretty well built.

No really, when shot in the body, most will feel a punch or stabbing/stinging feeling before anything!! and continue until major organs were effected!!! :huh:

And no bullets from a hand gun do not knock you down!!!!(unless its a knee cap job) ;)

But i digress, 3-4 rounds would take you out no problem!!! :P

Survivors in DayZ should not wear body armor upon spawning. Getting it later on could be fine, I suppose, though I find it a bit lame that a clip from either .45 pistol won't kill without headshots. I mean, a whole clip. Even with body armor that should at least knock you unconcious.

Also realism or not, for game balance this is kind of bad. Previously you could get very lethal weapons (Lee Enfield, .45 pistols especially) very easily and kill people with the highest end stuff when they come kill the lowly bean warriors of the south. Now you really need to get an assault rifle fast - or well, winchester might be decent enough.

I believe you, but do we feel that we should spawn with body armor? If body armor is going to be included then it should be be something we have to loot. It seems silly that players would spawn with something as effective as body armor but no gun and few supplies. I think Rocket should raise the weapon damage again or lower player health. If he wants to include body armor, that's fine, but it ought to be loot and rare loot at that.

i was just saying if that was their reasoning. i agree whole-heartedly agree that you should have to loot body armor

Holy crap all of you counter strike players that keep saying "shoot for the head" are completely retarded. You NEVER aim for the head and ALWAYS aim center mass. What this gun nerf has done is make this game (a mil sim) move even further away from realism. Unless of course you have body armor on which I think is the case here. In Arma II everyone has body armor. But DAYZ has no choice but to give you armor because of the mod based off game files
