The difference is the same.

I guess the main reason for calling them infected is to eliminate the supernatural aspect and I'm looking forward to investigating Rocket's brother's hints about the outbreak, but when you encounter moaning, staggering, humanoids with a craving for face, I think it's socially acceptable to go OMG ZOMBLES! in the heat of the moment.

"Infected" is just a word that found its way into existence in fiction when "Zombies" became less hip. They are the same concept. Infected evolved from Zombies. Saying that "they are not Zombies they are Infected" is just wrong because Infected are Zombies.
