Lee enfield damage reduction????

I heard the was damage reductions, and i found on dayz wiki that the lee enfield is 1 hit kill: body or head. i Found another website saying the enfield does 12498 now that same website today is telling me it does 6722 http://dayzdb.com/database/lee-enfield

Last night i one shot killed a guy all the way across the airfield (took a full clip to actualy land the shot) and since then i have been ignoring every gun i find, and sticking to the one hit kill enfield.

But after looking up these dmg stats, and hearing about reduction... im thinking i should probably ditch the gun if they nerfed it... not only is it the "dinner bell" but if i go face to face with someone with an AK lets say, even if i get the first hit, im probably gonna get killed... shitty...

Can anyone confirm if the dmg reduction is true? and since when?

That sucks like hell. I hope its audible range is reduced way down to keep it even remotely disirable.

Kind of a shame really, I always witnessed that gun as the great equaliser between long term survivors and new-spawns. Effective against snipers due to it's great range and accuracy, and deadly to be hit with.

Someone will need to confirm this from in-game, though!

WTF is going on??Did not Rocket state that this mod will not do anything to balance the game?Yet the first signs of balancing are nerfs.

These balance changes are done by the Bohemia team, not by rocket and the DayZ team.

There is nothing to 'believe', those are facts.

The dayzdb staff looked at the content of the 1.62 update and found those number in the weapons.pbo file (might be wrong about the file but they still found the info within the game files).

It's not like they talked to the ArmA 2 fairy that pulled those number out of her ass.

LOL,its funny that I posted what you just said about two hours ago.Yes it is from BIS and not Rocket and I am sorry for jumping the gun there.That is weird how a high realism sim is now tweaking damages as if they had it wrong before.

Just checked the "new" stats and it shows the Ak's as weaker than the M4's and the M4's the same damage output as an M16.Whats going on with this?I modded my Stalker game yrs back and after extensive searching I found that the 5.45x39 weapons are on par with the 5.56x45 weapons.And when you reduced a weapons barrel length you reduce the force it leaves the end with.Some weird tweaks there.

I don't know what happened exactly, or if this was intended to affect DayZ, but the idea that DayZ and Arma 2 are completely separate isn't really true. a lot of these things in the recent Arma 2 beta updates were to accommodate things in DayZ

I can kinda understand the reduction of the Enfield to slightly below the 7.62 rounds......but the AK74 is equal to the M16 and the aksu is equal to an M4 and so on.Seems like this is the balancing that they said would not happen.But this is gamey and makes for the easier to find weapons to be less powerful etc....where does it end?

They are kinda doing it on the wrong end though.

If this is gonna be a survival game and not just another Sniper Ghost Warrior clone they need to reduce the amount military grade weapons in the game. Yes, I know ArmA is a mil-sim, but if you want a full rack of military weapons, play vanilla ArmA and not a mod like DayZ.

DayZ as a survival game where people are thrown in as unarmed civilians should have mostly handguns like revolvers and semi-auto pistols, and some shotguns like the doublebarrel, pump action and semi-auto shotguns... and the rare scoped hunting rifle. Finding highpowered military weapons such as AK's, M16. M4's, AS50's, M107's, DMR, Dragunov and other purely military weapons should be extremely rare.

But, this is based on a military simulator so naturally there is an overload of military weapons in the game.

It never made sense to me why I'd find a DMR in a random deerstand... or a G17 for that matter.... or why there is AK47's floating around in a civilian fire station. That makes sense...oh wait, it doesn't.

1. Remove high end military weapon spawns from fire stations, deerstands and other civilian structures

2. Bring handguns and shotgun damage back up to speed

3. Make ammunition for scoped rifles and military grade weapons very rare.

It actually makes me laugh to watch DayZ videos on youtube where people aren't playing for surviving... they are running around in the woods with ghillie suits and M249 machineguns... just as if they were playing a regular mission in vanilla ArmA2... hunting players rather than having to worry about food, water, keeping warm, disease, weather and zombies.

It gets even better when threads start popping up where people are asking for armed vehicles / technicals with machineguns mounted on top (e.g. hummvee with .50 cal on roof).

If you want all that military stuff, the weapons, snipers, armed vehicles... why are you playing DayZ and not regular ArmA2 multiplayer?

I kinda of like the dmg reduction in a way, because yesterday me and my friend had a shootout with 3 other people, and I lived in part because they only hit me once with a handgun, which had gimped damage ;)

YEs the AK's got the bad end of this deal.The weapons that untrained men use to fight against the worlds best trained armies and do rather well and its nerfed. :(

And then the shortened versions like the AKS-74u and the M4A1 have same damage as their longer barreled versions is bad also.WTF BIS? AK's doing same damage as silenced M4's.:(

This is their first step away from the "realistic" at all cost motto they use to describe dayz. AK damage makes no sense. Professional soldiers love that weapon, some in spec ops even prefer it over the US issued M4 because it is so freakin reliable.

Again the game is about simulation .308 with expanding hunting bullets deal a great damage to human body.

Last I checked, an Enfield uses a .303 hollow tip not a .308. That isn't saying it should do any less damage, but I still think that should be a one shot kill to the body.

Of course the AK-47 is reliable. It was based on the german StG 44.

German engineering, always reliable.

It wasn't based on it mechanically at all. Only the concept. So German engineering doesn't play a part in the success of the AK rifles.
