SleepingHellion 1 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) Lets get more melee weapons. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be scrambling for a gun in the zombie apocalypse, but I would first get something that is dependable or damaging, possibly a mixture of both.Farming areas: Haysickle, pitchfork, hoe, shovel, mattock, chainsaw(more uses for fuel), etc.Industrial areas: Hammer, wrench, pipes, blow-torch, drills, etc.Housing areas: Forks, knives, bits of furniture, baseball bats, domestic hammers, etcMilitary areas: combat knives, let's have the e-tool act as a tool and weapon, bayonets, Calvary sabers, etc.Looking back at this list, maybe I get a little carried away, and maybe some of this stuff is inconvenient and overkill, completely missing the point of this thread, but hey, we're being realistic. A zombie apocalypse has never happened, so who knows what people would be coming out of the wood work with, besides guns? If your not fortunate to get a gun, your going to grab the first thing you see thats blunt, sharp, point or all of the above, and more than likely, people that get too close die, making it a more likely drop then someone who has a gun.On food drops I think it should go more toeards a the road feeling btw. And cannibalism... Also, I would love to get into the mind of a hatchet-wielding man-eater. Edited July 26, 2012 by SleepingHellion
logga619@hotmail.com 0 Posted July 26, 2012 They (the type of zombie) carry everything else but guns. Not sure why a dead person would be holding onto a gun. Maybe rarely deathgrip would come into play and they wouldn't be able to let it go, but when you die you don't exactly hold onto a gun. If you want to debate whether they should have handguns or not, then that's a better discussion.I think they mean that a soldier zombie (for example) with a rifle slung across their back, would probably keep said rifle until they get killed by a player. Landing the player with a shiny.

taffer 4 Posted July 26, 2012 (edited) I'd like to see less military weaponry. I'd like to see less spawns overall. More importantly, I'd like to see COMPLETELY random spawns so people aren't all forced into the same places. edit. that doesn't sound right. I mean I want it to be possible to find all the same things anywhere, so there's actually a reason to look at the little buildings, the little towns. Also, some more vehicles ffs. I can't find any. zython (DayZ) 196 Posted July 26, 2012 If this were in America, more hunting rifles than AK's would make sense. But this is Russia. Where the AK is the standard military service rifle and what do you know, it's a military occupied territory.

And since the place does not seem to be flooded with soldiers, there is no reason it should be knee deep in service rifles either.

hulahuga 29 Posted August 2, 2012 So, let's get factual. What civilian weapons would we like to add then?

Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) Hey there guys and gals.If DayZ strives towards any form of realism then weapon drops should also strive towards being realistic. Currently you almost never find any form of hunting rifles (scoped and otherwise) whilst in reality these populate farmsteads and deer stands to a very high degree, and at times residential areas. Pistols and small side arms should be in residential areas, some in deer stands. And military weapons should be a lot less common, and only to be found in some locations, or with very low chances in residential areas. So these are my suggestions in the hopes of improving the realism of the game:Larger variety of hunting rifles and other forms of more common weapons.Hunting rifles and shotguns should be more common in the game and exhibit the main guns used, or at least found, to a larger extent (just like in real life).Military weapons should be in highly specialized places, or with very very low chances of dropping in residential areas.EDIT: Some, very few, zombies should carry weapons. This issue is magnified by the fact weapons never degrade. Once you got an AK you're not going to switch back to winchester, ever. Edited August 2, 2012 by Lady Kyrah
hulahuga 29 Posted August 3, 2012 Good suggestions both of you.Max - I think that if you look at the current military weapons, their main difference is simply their attachments, except for sniper/assault/mg/smg, so why not add more attachment variants to the civilian rifles as well? Some suggestions apart from other version of what we already have (i.e different scopes, calibres, and assorted attachments...).32, one of the most common pistol variants..22 long, very common starting rifle, or just marksman practise..44 magnum, says itself.Ruger mini-14 (http://world.guns.ru/civil/usa/ruger-mini-14-e.html)Saiga, seeing it is in the old east block (http://world.guns.ru/civil/rus/saiga-e.html)
