Why would you kill a potential ally just because he has a better gun than yours? As if good assault rifles (or pretty much anything but NVGs or other really rare stuff) are hard to come by in this game. Even people who say "I only kill if I'm really low on food or water", that's also pretty damn silly, since if the person has some, you can trade or simply ask if he can spare it. But no, people choose to kill others, and you know why? 'Cause it's too damn easy.

The idea is to survive the infected, and you can do that better with a handgun and a hatchet than with sniper rifles. People kill because they are either afraid of being killed themselves or because they seek to actively kill other players. Purposes for this are simply to perpetuate their time in the game. Everyone is entitled to play as they like, but lets not coat that behaviour with reasons that are simply not true.

I told him to grab my pack and wait for me someplace as I had some decent stuff I needed, like food, canteen, knife, etc and I didn't feel like grinding away for it.

In this particular case I support Xaian. Is an axe! You can throw at anyone. People shooting other unarmed or with axe/crowbar are just wrong. And if the description of the situation is correct I don't see the point to follow a survivor with an axe to murder him. Total waste of time.

He was in his right to kill you. You could of been a threat. He didn't give you a chance to become one. Bandits and their playstyle will never be punished, so as rocket himself has basically said "Quit your fucking bitching and just play the game. This isn't my little pony."

This is just as bad if not worse than someone complaining about being shot in Chernogorsk or Elektrozavodsk.

Don't go to Balota.

Spawn as close as you can to Kamenka and head north. Check the deerstands on the way to Pavlovo and stop at the grocery in Zelenogorsk, then head to Stary Sobor and camp it for about 10 minutes before moving anywhere near it. Do it on a low pop server and take your time because you will probably get shot there. You may make it out with some good weapons, though, and you can move on with your game.

Going to Balota, whether it be the four deer stands south of it, or the airstrip, is suicide.

And again, a word to the not so wise; any area that may have players who are going to kill you where you stand, sit and camp there for a while, watch for movement. Get a pair of Binoculars. It's REALLY quite simple to survive.
