Stay a while and listen

Hypothetical situation, though I wouldn't be at all surprised if it has happened before.

You stumble across a lone survivor literally sitting beside a burning campfire in the middle of some backwater Chernasus forest. As you approach, if he sees you, he asks to you come and chat a while.

How would you honestly react to this situation?

If you've run into a similar situation, please share.

I would probably sit next to him and chat, ask if he needs any food, water or medical supplies.

That's probably how I'd go about it, too, though truth be told I'd probably be the guy by the fire.

If I figured he was by himself, probably. But if I saw anything that would indicate that his clanmates were nearby or on their way, not a chance.

Would be nice to have a friendly chat in DayZ for once. Swap stories, maybe do a little trading, then move along. More encounters like that would make the game far better, in my humble opinion of course.

I wish that would be how it went down. :/

I'd like to organise this for you, Hopper, just so we can both enjoy such a world, but organising such a thing would no doubt ruin the ambience :P

I am going to start doing it, I think.

Definitely would be good if more events such as this happened.

New clan/group idea: The Story Swapping Bean Slingers.

Probably have a chat. Yesterday was the first time I decided to not shoot on sight and it was a bit strange. Watching somebody walking around alive in my face and I kinda like it

Once you successfully sift through those who just automatically shoot everyone they see, you can have some crazy experiences. DayZ has one hell of a social-experiment undertone that I think a lot of people totally miss. My best experiences have involved dealing with strangers in serious, friendly, rewarding and sometimes comical scenarios.

Bludgeon him to death with the blunt side of the axe, laugh madly over direct at him, steal his shit and piss on the fire, kill myself on a rabbit then click respawn until i spawn near the forest dwellers new char on the beach so i can axe him a few more questions, immediately come here and rage because i lost my as50 peacekeeper in the encounter.and then ..woah... woah back nellie ! ..sorry..i am clearly still getting over a bout of dayzforumitus.

If he had a weapon I would be hesitant because it sounds like their goating you into a trap but those are the things you have to deal with so, yeah I would sit and chat about experiences and whatnot, atleast I knew then even if he did kill me afterwards I would of heard some stories and wouldnt feel as bad that he would get my gear..as oppossed to running into someone and getting the "you are dead" screen because they KoS no matter what

Broadcast in local chat through mic the sounds of a hele flying by and put your torch in him (spotlight). My friend does this a lot, to mess with people.

I like that attitude, as morbid as that may be. I guess it's kinda like putting a human face to the person, even if they end up taking you out. KOS bandits and snipers just feel like bots or programmed parts of the game.

Shoot him. Sit by his fire and eat his beans.

What if he had no beans?

I'd avoid it at all costs, as that would seem like a trap to me.

If I had my buddy with me, I might approach but get him to go around and see whats what. So if my buddy saw something he could alert me and I could hopefully get out of there alive.

Do my best to avoid the bandit voice in the back of my head whispering "Kill.... he wont fight back... take his beans... kill... watch the blood pour over the fire and laugh as you collect your spoils... kill... kill KILL KILL!" and see what he has to say. Oh, and then I'd kill him
