Zombies are coming, I'm going to put on an empty backpack and leave the house!

Recommended Posts

This is horrible.

How about when you spawn, you are inside of a house. You have a backpack and are given 10 seconds to shove as much crap into your backpack as possible. Items will randomly spawn in the house.

I'd much rather start my adventure with a butcher knife, baseball ban, frying pan, etc. than fists that are good for nothing.

Just an idea.

I'm sure the backstory is that you were in a house and just decided to wander off to post-apocalyptic Russia.

i think it's more likely you were in a plane crash, went unconscious, and woke up washed up on the shore with your empty backpack and some basic supplies.

i wanna see grim drynamic beginnings. LIke spawn ona beach cold and ill, spawn in a boarded up house surrounded by zeds starving and thristy, or spawn at a car/plane crash broken and bleeding.

SOme initially horirble situation you have crawl or scramble your way out of XD

Yeah the ability to spawn anywhere on the map. (At Random) Certain places would have different beginnings/situations, but hard to say how they'd work it into DayZ...

I am fairly sure the backpack will be removed at some point, so no sweat, you just wash up on the beach with nothing but some clothes on :)

Yeah it should be that way. It isn't that hard to find a back pack, and I usually end up switching with a bigger one before I fill up. Depends though on what town I start by.

Well it would also increase the 'fun' of finding a bagpack, just ANY will do realy, i mean finding the Czech vestpouch six slot would mean that you can store 2 cans of food and 2 tins of drinks + 2 bandages... leaving you with a whole 16 slots to drag around ammo, assuming you will spend 4 slots on some morphine (for a total of 20 slots) ... and after that you still have loads of chances finding even bigger packs to drag around more 'junk' :)

I just pretend we were all dumped on the coast in identical gear for someone's amusement. One day, we'll find out it was the mice.

the op has a point though. who leaves a safe place with nothing and says, "yea this might work"

I just pretend that my character left home because they ran out of food and water, and the lack of weapons comes from a fight the night before with the infected.

Without a real backstory, I can make it up as I go along...

I just assume i washed up on the beach after a hard night on a billionaire's yacht partying with gorgeous girls and Roman Abramovich.

But that's just me.

I'd like to see something like this. You start with nothing except for a bandage, painkillers and a torch.

if you want to be in these situations, make them happen in the game

the beginning is unimportant - it's just a necessary step.

... the point is survival, its just a hardcore beginning to bind you to progression of suvival, starting from nothing and full of despair XD

not the keenest of ideas but would be amazing to see more dynamic beginnings and rougher starts/interactions with zeds and the environment

I've actually thought about this and it would be cool to impliment a way at spawn to say choose your characters hometown (spawn point) and previous profession before the apocalypse (defines starting items) Don't know if something like that would work for this game but it would be a neat feature.

Yep, I thought about it too, but idk Rocket will add it since he doesnt have any backstories, which is not hard to make one
