Jimmy James 18 Posted July 27, 2012 I think I posted something similar elswhere, but I agree with the password issue now. If there were no hacks/scripts I'd say make sure people couldn't lock the server but it doesn't matter if people can farm the crap out of everything at the moment because tons and tons of illigitimate items are entering the database through these scripts—far more than any small group farming in a safe environment. tced 45 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) @SleepyRhino..yea, your right, some ppl will take advantage of the locked server for their own use, but weight the two & see which is more acceptable...unlocked - hackers teleporting players, mass kill scripts, jet/chopper hacks, ect..vslocked - some loot gets farmed...Again, there is no perfect solution, no choice that eliminates all, but there are exceptable options to help to reduce that which cost more & more players. SleepyRhino 0 Posted July 27, 2012 @TCEd & @Jimmy JamesI agree totally at the moment having password to farm items is not needed due to the amount of duped/hacked in items, I was talking of once the majority* of hack/scripts have been combated then password on servers are not needed and will cause more problems than they fix.*There will always be some just not the random roulette of joining a server and being teleported and raped by hacker. JESUSARIUS REX (DayZ) 163 Posted July 27, 2012 Even if 200 servers are farmed by a clan of 4, that means only 800 people out of 600000 are farming lol
SleepyRhino 0 Posted July 27, 2012 Even if 200 servers are farmed by a clan of 4, that means only 800 people out of 600000 are farming lolEven if those number are on the low side having that many people farming in organized teams with heli/cars is still a large amount of items flooding into game. That's something we don't have to worry about thou at the moment cause the game is flooded with high end stuff anyway haha
Ander (DayZ) 530 Posted August 20, 2012 While we do continue to review rules to better balance the game, this topic will be locked for now.As for questions about german law.In nowhere do we "sell" dayz as a service, it's a thirdparty software that you host on servers that you rent from somebody else.Im not a lawyer, but Im pretty sure it's self explanatory that WE the dayz team does not limit you from using your bought services. Cause you arent making a contract with "US" the dayz team.Other than that, this is plain silly. As the DayZ game nears completion more and more parts of dayzmod will less strict. We'll review the rules when the time comes.
jwiechers 92 Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) I just thought I'd comment on one assertion made by the original poster that always results in a chuckle for me:3) NO KICKING TO MAKE ROOM FOR 'FRIENDS' OR CLANMATESThis one MUST be reviewed, cause it is not accordable to civil law. Actually you, the DayZ team, prohibit the server owners to actually use the service they are paying for. This is not legal (at least not in Germany)I am sorry, but you failed law school -- or, probably, simply aren't a lawyer. What Ander said is, strictly speaking, also not 100% true (that is, legally, there *is* some form of contract between you and the DayZ team), but the thing is: you specifically run a server using the DayZ software that may only be used in accordance with these pre-communicated rules. It is in 100% accordance with German, EU and International Private Law that the DayZ team denies you the right to kick people for "friends or clanmates" and there is no breach of any law in the fact that you actually pay someone else for the hardware you use our software on. Your argument is simply faulty and uninformed. Edited August 20, 2012 by jwiechers
