Drink instead of Eating, killing the Hunger a little bit

Recommended Posts

Hello people.

It's a fact someone can survive 30 days+ without eating, but only 3 days without drinking.

Why can't the drinks in the game kill the hunger a little bit? Most of the times I play I die due to hunger. I mean, the drinks should kill the hunger a little bit, approx. 20%, so I won't die of hunger that fast.

It's realistic and I think this is a good idea cos it seems to me that you find drinks more often than food. In the small villages in the wilderness you're practically screwed cos there are almost no food spawns. Some zombies drop a pepsi sometimes, but I haven't found any food on them. The chance to drop food is sometimes too little.

That's my point of view, what do you think of this?

Already suggested many times on forums. Good idea though.

I am happy you like my idea. But I didn't found that with the search option.

Sorry for that.

If it's a good idea, maybe it's worth to be warmed up to come into the mind of readers again.

Yeah this has been discussed a lot, I really hope it's added soon! I feel bad shooting people in the back hoping they have a can of beans :/

An adult male realistically needs at least 1000 calories a day to make the body function properly, I think at least. I do agree on the spawns though, I've only ever found everlasting supplies of drink and not so much for food.

I think the developers want to push hunting and cooking, so you should make knives, matches and wood a priority.

You may survive 30+ days without food if you were sedentary, but not running around Chernarus, trying to survive.

What about the players who don't want to hunt and cook meat? I think, if you carry a big weapon you have to drop your hatchet. I want to play with a big gun, let's say, a lee enfield or a shotgun. I mean a one hit kill weapon for the zombies.

I do not want to live the life of a boy scout.

At the activity level of the survivors in chernaus, you will need more than a can of beans. And if you are dying of hunger, you need to visit the supermarket or hunt.

Then those players are going to die. Processed food in tins will not last forever - in the apocalypse you've got to fend for yourself.

Boy scouts wash cars and clean windows.

Boy scouts wash cars and clean windows.

They do this in america. Well, not here in germany. Here, they go in the woods and build tents of wood only with their knife and such things. Maybe interesting to know, the boy scouts here don't sell cookies. :D

How long you can survive without food depends a lot on your body weight. Me being fairly skinny, if I skip a few meals my hands start shaking.

If you're living on a diet of cold beans and soda, you probably won't have a lot of extra body fat, and you'll have to eat a lot more than if you live on a healthy regular diet.

Well, at some point we have realism to come to an end, I think. Beans, fish and water and pepsi are fine.

If drinking even restored 1% of hunger you could live at a water pump forever. (Sorry if I'm misunderstanding your suggestion)

If possible, drinking slowing the effects of hunger by a small amount for a short time might work.

As it is right now, you have to work to survive, something I really like about DayZ is survival actually feeling like a struggle.

Good idea. I have no problem with that, and it´s definitely more realisitic. You have my beans.

I have to admit your idea does sound better than the OP's

No, this 20% "be full" bonus should be only given once by drinking something, but after that you should be forced to eat something. That was my thoughts.

I thought it thru while I read your posting, and you are right. Water pumps would be warzones after this would be implemented.

You do realise you can have a hatchet AND a rifle n at the same time? (By putting the hatchet in the tool belt obviously)

Thanks. Last time I could not grab a rifle with my hatchet in the toolbelt. May have been a bug or something. I actually was carrying 2 hatchets, one in my hands and one in the toolbelt. I dropped the hatchet I had in my hands but still wasnt able to grab the rifle. Odd world there.

Rifle would be in a different slot than the hatchet anyway, so that's probably not related.

Next time you drink soda check the amount of calories :D

You can get fat without even eating if drinking sugar drinks all the time

i much rather have the game use Calory & hydratation stats on food/drink items. And ofcourse activities 'burning' calories. That way you could indeed somewhat kill hunger with drinks or kill thirst with beans&sauze ...

People posting about the "activity rate" but does that affect how often you become hungry/thirsty? Even so, you could go a while without food, you'd just be hungry a lot, especially if you had enough fluids to keep you going. I think you should need to drink 5-ish canteens a day, put that in any context you wish for playtime. While only having to eat once a day, but the meters shouldn't go from empty to full, there should be a tier system. So maybe you can have starving and full on opposite ends of the spectrum, you'd have to eat one meal a day to remain in the middle, eating more will have you closer to full, less would get you closer to starvation. I'm far too tired to expand this well so I'll stop now.
