Mutonizer 78 Posted May 22, 2012 1.5.7 could be overwhelming with the respawn, making any attempt at clearing out a place a bit pointless.Now..after some hours playing, there are still plenty but I'd add a wee bit more for good measure. Currently, as some said above, zombies are back to no longer being that much of an issue, especially since they are NEVER in buildings anymore. Will reflect on it more as the week goes by and I test it more. JimiEZ (DayZ) 0 Posted May 22, 2012 Like others, I really liked 1.5.7 zombie numbers, but not so much the respawn timer. In 1.5.8 however, the zeds seem to have gone back from a threat to a slight inconvenience. Don't really even have to sneak to get into a town anymore, just waltz in and do whatever you want, the zombies won't really bother you unless you're completely blind. spirotris 0 Posted May 22, 2012 I don't really mind the zombie numbers, as long as you can pull a train to a barn or something and pick them off solo play is still possible. However, increasing the amount of Zed BEFORE we get a way to lose a Zed other than killing it is just bad. It's stupid how they have infinite sight and stamina if they've noticed you once. Closing doors, running up-hills, losing LoS in towns, climbing ladders and sneaking out the back etc etc should all be ways for you to be able to lose a Zed. No need to discuss details... but as long as they lose the gps-tracking-system or whatever it is that enables them to track you even if you're 500m away hiding on the third floor in an apartment building I think it's a good change :)

wookie_wookstar 0 Posted May 22, 2012 All I know is I like to be around Zed more then real players, Zeds are at least predicable!
zeru 5 Posted May 22, 2012 Yeah I miss the 1.5.7 numbers too.I've now stopped picking up smoke grenades, whiskey bottles, and m67 grenades as they're no longer worth the space anymore.
Dave Caffeine 17 Posted May 22, 2012 I didn't have a problem with the amount of zombies in 1.5.7, what bothered me and still continues to is the endless respawning of zombies in cities. It isn't possible to actually clear a city, after 10 mins and 70ish dead zombies they were still running up on me.
Renegade0260 3 Posted May 22, 2012 It should be possible to clear a city with a band of 4 or 5 players working together, or a town with 2 players, or a small village with 1 player. I.e. Zs need to stay dead for about 20 minutes to an hour, the numbers from 1.5.7 were about right, maybe 25% less.
daedrick 90 Posted May 22, 2012 Im going to say the very same thing as everyone in this thread. I didn't mind the number or zombies, what I did mind was the quick respawn rate. Please rocket, more zombies, less respawn. Thanks.
FrIEND (DayZ) 9 Posted May 22, 2012 Yup. I stick with my initial "wish list" zed count: as many as rocket can stuff in the servers with slower respawn and further away from players but with waves of zed starting on the "dry" edges of the map and moving towards the coast. Maybe more guns & ammo... I want a war with zombies! This^^
sunnz 24 Posted May 22, 2012 Reduce the spawn rate, reduce the speed and then yes, LOTS of zeds would be perfect.Right now the zeds lag you when they hit you, making it somewhat frustrating. FPS drop occurs when you have 13+ zeds after you and when you get that many after you, more spawn...
rickenbacker 190 Posted May 22, 2012 MOAR ZOMBIES! I honestly want as many zeds as possible' date=' the allure of shooting someone in a city is too large right now. The consequence of firing a gun in a city should be 50+ zeds I feel..[/quote']I agree with this, EXCEPT that if we are to have loads of zombies, they can't all be of the super-sprinting, teleporting, wallhacking variety we have now. I'd love to see lots of zombies, but only if they respawn slowly enough that you can actually clear out an area, and if you can hide from them by sneaking behind walls, or closing doors.Would actually be kind of cool if there was a mechanism for zombies to break down doors... Imagine closing the door on a horde of zombies, only to realize you have no way out, and after a set amount of zombie hits (enough to give you a few minutes to prepare or yell for help), the doors would open again and be non-closeable until you killed all the zeds in the building! dlorT 0 Posted May 22, 2012 I honestly think that the respawn rate should be a lot longer than ever 10 minutes. I'm thinking 30-45, with the sheer numbers we saw in 1.5.7, Zed are easy to take care of in DayZ, Bandits are another story, kill a ton of Zombies with nice guns, you better believe Bandits are going to wait until the area is cleared and even stalk to you an area where they wont get attacked. Right now we definitely need more Zed to get rid of the rampant noob killig on the shore. COme on guys, there's no survival reason for capping some noob on the shore. He didn't have anything you needed. I'm all for Bandits fucking me up after i've gathered supplies for them to loot, but blowing my head off the moment i spawn, there's no sport in that, where's the thrill of the hunt? Time Glitch 453 Posted May 22, 2012 I'm just going to echo the same sentiment, because it bears repeating:1.5.7 Zed count.Longer respawn.Keep new detection AI.Thank you!
hambybush 0 Posted May 22, 2012 I haven't played enough yet to detect much of a difference. I still want 1000+ (2000? 3000?!?! :D ) all the time and at least 10% of those wandering around in the woods and on the roads.mmm i guess when you go over 800 AI arma engine has a lot of problem concering performance. its an od problem well known in bis forum. anyway i hope we will never have a such high number of zombies lol :D
BannedOpinion 14 Posted May 22, 2012 I don't know if it's too many of too low of a respawn time.I often find that villages have more than cities, and this to me means you're probably more likely to survive in cherno staying low than going in land. Last night Vysnoye had more zeds than I could count, it was ridiculous at one point. Perhaps we need more of a spread, maybe start getting them to spawn in the countryside. Domino (DayZ) 0 Posted May 22, 2012 I really enjoyed the numbers in 1.5.7 The current numbers just a tad to easy. The only thing that was wrong in 1.5.7 was the respawn rate. zombies are no longer an issue though i can easily run threw the big towns and loot and have no problems. mike10019314@yahoo.ca 3 Posted May 22, 2012 zombies should stop chaseing you if you get more than 400mor so away and should not respawn so fast.wonder if they could be scripted to randomly stumble(10%chance for every 60 sec of running?) to give you a chance to put some distance betwen you and them,as another idea or a addon to the above make it so zombies can stumble on steep slopes and if they bump into things like trees ,baracades, rubble,or wrecked carsif zombies didnt instanly run at every gun shot it might be intresting, say every zombie in the sound range of the gun walks to the area it heard the shot insted of sprinting ,could lead to a fun game of cat and mouse ,boosted zombie numbers would make these ideas realy fun
goldengears 1 Posted May 23, 2012 zombies should stop chasing you if you get more than 400mor so away and should not re-spawn so fast.wonder if they could be scripted to randomly stumble(10%chance for every 60 sec of running?) to give you a chance to put some distance between you and them' date='as another idea or a ad-don to the above make it so zombies can stumble on steep slopes and if they bump into things like trees ,barricades, rubble,or wrecked carsif zombies didn't instantly run at every gun shot it might be interesting, say every zombie in the sound range of the gun walks to the area it heard the shot instead of sprinting ,could lead to a fun game of cat and mouse ,boosted zombie numbers would make these ideas really fun[/quote']I like some of your points here.I agree there should be an ability to lose Zombies. I've ran through apartments before losing groups of them only to run all way to Electro to be chased by the same swarm about 10 minutes later. Also regarding slopes, zombies are unable to run uphill, they walk. so there is already something like that in place. In my opinion Z count should be kept at 1.5.7 levels and changes should be made to make it easier if need be for the player. Like you ability to lose them, etc. But the best method for us mice to be used in Rockets lab is too not change too many variables so that when tweaking takes place you can see what works and what doesn't.And in my opinion, the old Z count works, and I absolutely LOVED it! boneboys 7988 Posted May 23, 2012 Was it the count that changed or how they spawned (to soon, to close) or both.I actually got used to the numbers and I have a slight suspision that it may have encouraged people to work more together.I say that because since the last alpha build "little pistol" killing has gone rampage (again).Thoughts... E-Z 25 Posted May 23, 2012 TL;DRmy oppinion is alot of zombies, but we need to be able to loose them,i hate that they lock on allmost forever, you should be able to climb a ladder, or go out of sight and hide and loose them, the fact that they can follow you exactly up 3 storys of a building annoys me. barracade doors and escape out of another and they just horde the door they tried to come in through, see zombies are dumb and slow and rely on numbers to kill. atm they are too smart, we need to get them sorted out so there are ALOT of zombies, but alot dumber, so easy to fool, but if you make a mistake you will have 100 zeds on you. GedenWhitey 0 Posted May 23, 2012 Well I still think there are to few Zeds :) and we really need wandering hordes ^^ That being said, if we do get more zombies the respawn timer on has to go down... The current numbers seem about right (Mayhaps a little low?) when taking the respawn rate into the count... Cleaning a city should be hella hard, but after doing it we should have time to loot it ^^In my opinion at least :P- Whitey
