DO NOT REPLY TO HACK THREADS!

Recommended Posts

Please do not reply to these hack promoting threads, you're merely bumping their threads and giving them more exposure. Simply report the thread and let them sink and disappear.

Thanks.

Or, conversely, forum moderators could delete them before anyone has time to reply to them.

I dunno, just a thought.

Yeah they are staying on top of them. But sometimes mods aren't always around to do so. It's just good practice for members of the community to simply report and ignore.

Saying anything is silly. The less attention they get, the less profitable it will seem. Click the thread, report, leave. That is it. And good job, Matt. Assuming it was you, as you're looking at the thread...

We do, we also are banning the posters IP every single time. sadly we can't monitor every single new thread the second it is posted. I may be a called a god but that is only on account of my amazingly good lucks and not me actually being omnipotent......

We will continue to crack down on hackers and those advertising it.

i only said inb4 lock

It's hard to not want to just want to verbally attack these assholes but it's better to simply not reply at all, it's only helping to promote their hacks.

You guys are doing an awesome job. The last few have been stamped on very quickly. Making your life easier by reporting and ignoring makes the whole process for us all much better to put up with. Just thought I should perhaps make this thread to try and get people to realize this. :D

ps, if you need more mod staff I would be more than willing to offer my services.

Sorry didn't mean to rub your face in it, I'm just raw as hell and tired from a whole day of having to continually shut down my server simply to ban yet another handful of GUID's yesterday and all night tonight.

So when it comes to hacking I guess you could say I've had it up to my eyeballs with injection hacks and the stupid Arma Server allowing client side script commands to be executed. Thats absolute idiocy in any multiplayer environment. And its even stupider when the Arma beta process is constantly pushing out updates and no one at BIS has thought to go "Yanno, maybe we should have the beta server reject client script execution."

Id suggest you guys don't report topics, go further to author profile and press "report profile" instead at the lower right corner. Moderator will ban him much quicker ;)

Yeps don't reply, report.

If smells like victory and cinnamon when 9 hack threads are deleted in less than 3 minutes.

May be you can write some mod for this forum engine, which prevents posting definite content? I see hackers usually post one and the same (or slightly modified) post all the time. If only you could copypaste this post in some kind of filter so that new topic with such content won't be published.

As an alternative, make topic of newest users be shown only after approval by moderators. If one topic approved - user can post without limits.

One more thing, as a mod, some kind of filter can check whether author has already created topic with same content. This will prevent crossposting in forums and will prevent hack-spammers from posting one topic again and again many times.

The problem with having all new users have a probationary period, we have several thousand users sign up to dayz a day, say maybe a thousand on the forums a day. It just isn't feasible, currently the mod team is doing a good job of jumping all over it and as soon as they pop up deleting the threads. The usernames are then banned and the IP is then banned. Once the user has posted a hack thread all of his posts are then deleted.

Isn't IP banning a bit counter productive? I mean any hacker with half an ounce of sense would be running through more than a few proxies right?

Anyways it takes little to no effort to report these spammers.

If people report them instantly, they hardly ever last more than 5 minutes.

How about this. Limit where new users can post. Limit them to New Player Discussion/Troubleshooting. They can only post in other areas if they either a, post x amount of threads in either of the previous sections or b, have been a member for longer than x amount of days, or a combination of the two.
