Victory Condtions

Hey All -

I want to see an end-game victory condition. I think there should be away to get the heck out of the map whether by some transport or airplane or something. I don't have all the details but I do want to "Win".

I enjoy tricking myself out with the best gear and hooking up with the best squads, camping out and scavenging towns but then the "I have too much good stuff and I don't want to die" syndrome kicks in. Paranoia rules and self-preservation for your character trumps. Anything to avoid that lethal snipers bullet or that stealthy crash to the back of your head with a hatchet.

Right now I am working toward survival and I love it, but like I said, I want to "Win". Is there anything being developed towards this end?

The RT Podcast suggested creating a vaccine that made all the zombies human again. You could have a chance of screwing up and killing yourself or anyone you give it to. etc etc etc

It sounds cool. But what after that? A server restart? A long.. long.. looooooong fucking time of strenuous work to get the vaccine ready just to start the game over? Seems useless. And as for leaving. Im guess the whole world is infected. You could also just ya know... walk off the map...

Won't use the search tool? Then you won't get mature responses.

Your lack of maturity doesn't surprise me, I did use the search tool and my search yielded little helpful on the matter. That is why I am writing here...

I agree with everything you say and I dont like Rockets suggestion at all. How about this:

There should be win conditions for individuals or groups of people who want to get off the map to a "Safe zone" i.e. win, not a condition set on everyone in a server. I want to know theres possibly a light at the end of the tunnel and not lights out by way of sniper fire (more likely).

Why, why do you have to win? Is playing the mod for just fun not enough for you. Do you need some kind of gratification, such as big words saying YOU WON!

I mean honestly if you want something like that, Day Z is not for you. It's a mod where you will die, its just a matter of when.

Win? How do you win a zombie apocalypse?

One of my friends made the excellent comparison of DayZ and Minecraft; one of the reasons my little group stopped playing Minecraft was because we 'won'. We finished. The game was over, and we were done with it.

Right now, DayZ has no such 'ending'. We might stop playing for a while, but because there's no overall goal, we just keep coming back and trying different stuff, simply because we haven't 'won' the game.

The other night I was on a quiet server, and every player must have been in the woods, because Zombie count was at Zero. I considered this win...but then I ran too close to a town, and the infection started to rage again. Better go wipe those Zed back out!
