Disgraced 1123 Posted July 23, 2012 Call it what you will. We all know the mod is in alpha and that the Arma II base game's flexibility is partly to blame.. And that it can be called scripting, hacking or whatever. But is it getting to be too much.... Or do you still not care?
gizm0 96 Posted July 23, 2012 I am slightly annoyed by the script kiddies and while I have seen them in action(flying a heli around my home server), I have yet had a bad experience due to them.

darkanima270 31 Posted July 23, 2012 because the comunity of dayz has grown up fastest, and cheaters too, i usually take a look to cheat websites when i play a game becasue i want to know the actual level of cheats about a game, and i must say, its growning up very fast, a quick look at google will explain itself
Kar98 27 Posted July 23, 2012 Had my first hacker experience last night :/They were invisible opening and closing the door of a supermarket then me and a mate got shot in the head by 2 bullets very fast. Then my other 2 mates witnessed a tractor spawn in front of them and then they got shot
Womb Raider 92 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) It is very unfortunate and frustrating but there's nothing you can do really but press on. Me and a buddy of mine were fully kitted out and were about go go hit Berinzino and I logged in first and all of the server got teleported to one place and a hacker with a fully automatic silenced M9 pistol killed all of us. DarkRaven123 602 Posted July 23, 2012 The amount of skiddies can be attributed to DayZ.But DayZ as a mod is in no way at fault when it comes to these hacks.Blame can be laid at the feet of the Arma 2 engine. Because it was never designed to have this type of mod run through it.Also, a very common hook for Battleye at the moment is the reason for so many skiddies around. It will get fixed, in time. There is nothing Battleye can do, except detect, react, and forever so on.Hacks will be apart of this game forever, just like every other game.
rifter 17 Posted July 23, 2012 I've yet to meet any after 200+ hours. Try playing on Euro servers.

dimak415 62 Posted July 23, 2012 When you have a game where players invest in their characters and part of the experience of the game is to progress the character, hacking is a huge deal. If this was CoD and someone was hacking, no big deal, switch servers and play on. But when you have a character alive for multiple days, survive Cherno, Elektro, Staroy and NWAF only to get hatcheted to death by some god mode ball sack, the game starts to lose its appeal. As a party, we no longer build up bases and search for vehicles because of bugs and hackers. No point in running and fixing a vehicle for an hour if the game is going to glitch out and destroy the car as soon as you put the last wheel on (happened twice), or the server wipes your bus and 2 cars just cause (we know it was server because server restarted after vehicles were saved multiple times, we logged for all of 10min came back and cars were gone). No point in setting up tents far from the coast only to get killed by someone teleporting ON TOP of you. Just today, I killed a guy on US 625 who had ghille, gps, as50 and nothing else. Not even a pack. Couldn't loot anything and couldnt hide body. Funny thing is, he used his hacks to kill newbs spawning on the beach and got killed by me, a 1hr old character with an AKM.The point is this. Hackers are killing this game. Thats exactly what they want, and they are doing it pretty well. There are 2 ways to stop them. 1. Do not allow for privately owned servers. That would get rid of a lot of admin abuse and give the devs a lot of control over who to ban and how to do it.2. Go standalone with something BASED on the Arma engine that doesn't even have menus for spawning things in. If you remove the function, no one can exploit it. This will not stop wall hackers (client side).Without literally millions of dollars, this game will not go standalone. We are talking Blizzard level. We are talking about Diablo 3 hardcore. Those guys spend mucho denero on secure servers and on thwarting off hackers, and plenty of accounts do anyways.I have sworn off DayZ on multple occasions due to hackers. But I always come back... its just that good.
endlives 0 Posted July 23, 2012 the hacking in this game right now is worse than any I have ever experienced in any previous game I've played in 10 years + of gaming it is completely out of hand .
mind_grenade 24 Posted July 23, 2012 I honestly in 90 hours can't remember Seeing a hack, being disadvantaged by one or anything to do with them. I feel the whole situation is largely blown out of proportion. Unless I've been exceptionally lucky or something, most people seem to just cry hack when they just don't know what happened. icdwill117@gmail.com 0 Posted July 23, 2012 Noticed a huge spree of hacking in the early AM hours of 7/22/2012.Teleportation of players to a single area, teleporting to the air, etc. My home server has appeared to shut down temporarily because of it. deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 23, 2012 You realize things like this is exactly what hackers like to see. Making this poll will encourage more hacking. Best thing to do is ignore them they are like 5 year olds that just want attention. So congrats on supporting and helping hackers and making the issue worse. Kojima (DayZ) 2 Posted July 23, 2012 The problem lies with "battle eye" . Does the community realize it can be disabled from detecting any of your actions on the client side?
Anton17 97 Posted July 23, 2012 There are 4 or 5 hacker threads on the first page of general discussion alone, and more in server general. Hacks tend to happen more at a certain time depending on time zones. There are a lot, and I'd say at least some form on every server, whether you've seen it or not.Given this... what more do BE, BI or the Devs need to see that this is an issue? And more-so to the point, when the hell is something going to get done about it?

Battle eye i supposed to detect hacking. Problem is it's easily disabled client side. (ie battle eye doesnt report hackers)
deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 23, 2012 Again you are wrong... hackers do not hack for attention. They do it to see if they can. In arma 2's case. there is no way to stop them.No your still wrong. Go do research on hacks being used. 95% are script kiddies using others hacks. This is why you see the same fucking hacks over and over. Arma 2 /Day Z are not a challenge. Shit I could probably hack the game and I'm not even that good of a developer. You say they do it for a challenge on a game that is highly unsecure because it is a sand box / open Mod game. People are using the same hacks that have been used in arma 2 for last 2 years. People do it for A. sales profit to the kiddies that I speak of or B. they did it 3 years ago and people just using the scripts.
ToasterDiagramm 62 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) I only saw two obvious hackers since playing for two months now:Two guys with alternate camo clothing (helmets, camo, protection sunglasses)Unlimited clip sizesGlolden AK or somethingHeavy machine gunIt wasn't that bad though. I had no weapon so they let me live. I never encountered a horrible hacking assault. Maybe once I got teleported 5m into the air for dieing, I'm not sure about that. Please don't fool yourselfs. There will be always hacks in any game. Nothing is save. You might fix some holes and prevent script kiddies. Than some actual hacker will come and fix another one. Then he might release his hack again for the kiddies. Probably everything is hack and exploitable. Edited July 23, 2012 by ToasterDiagramm
aaronra20@yahoo.com 1 Posted July 23, 2012 Not sure if it is related or not, but for the month that I've been playing this game, I had never personally seen or fell victim to a hacker, but heard few mentions of them. Since the latest beta build for Arma2 being released, which apparently was implimented to fix multiplayer issues, the hacking has been immensely apparent over the last 2 days judging by the number of complaints on the forums and youtuber postings.I spent the better part of my play time the last few days just trying to FIND servers that were decent to play on, mainly due to sync issues, but also on the level of being victim to two hacks on two different servers. Was there something in the latest build that provided a larger hole to make it easier for hackers to run rampant? Or is it coincidently due to the popularity of this game drawing the grief committee?
Mad Z 51 Posted July 23, 2012 Yes, my only death in the past 3 weeks was due to a hacker killing everyone on the server.
wolfgang_p 0 Posted July 23, 2012 It's killing the game its frustrating. First time I make myself with a decent equipment and survived looting hot areas and got killed by an invisible dude at berezino with a full auto crossbow. While I was bleeding out somehow my body catch on fire pretty cool eh?
