How do I play regular OA without dayz? (FIXED)

Recommended Posts

I want to play Takistan Life however the servers have a red X next to them and it doesn't allow me to play anything that isn't DayZ.

I've tried disabling dayz on Steam, launching regular arma from Sixlauncher and still no luck. I think it has something to do with the betas but I'm not too sure.

Thanks in advance!

-edit this worked for me

This is the complicated stupid way I take when I want to play Insurgency without getting the message "ArmA2: Reinforcements has stopped working."

-delete the beta folder in ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead/expansions

-install 94876 beta version

-download http://www.battleye.com/download.html v1.11 / v1.60 / v1.61.94876 BE Client for Windows (32-bit) - MD5: 6c3fc9824f0f7a548fcbac0171b14c65

-replace it with old file in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\ArmA 2 OA\BattlEye\

-run ArmA2:Combined operations through steam launcher

I'm sure there's an easier way, but next to smaching my fist through my monitor, this is the best I can do for now.

lol just move the @dayz somewhere else

I tried that, didn't work. =/ Still have the red X on the servers.

I was thinking maybe reverting back to an older beta might work but not quite sure how to do that.

Yeah it seems like we're stuck in DayZ forever. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution.

There is a solution. I run two servers, A dayz server and a zargabad life server. The reason you are not able to play is due to either your beta patch is 1.62 or your battleye is broke. you must have the patch 1.60 to play any servers that aren't dayz. Alot of people aren't able to play on my zargabad life server because battleye is fucked up and wont reupdate to a previous version automatically. This is dayz's fault for asking us to update to a more recent version that isn't compatible with everything for you, You might need a fresh install. What I did is I went into My app data folder, Arma 2 OA, Battleye and I deleted the battleye folder. I then proceeded to my game directory and deleted the folder BEsetup and any battleye folders or files in my game. I went into steam game properties and verified the integrity of game cache. This may take a while as it is scanning your game for corrupt or missing files. Once it has been completed it will redownload the files needed to play. Then launch arma 2 oa through steam once and it will reapplie the battleye to a previous version that all servers use. Then bam you can play any arma 2 oa server. But once you play dayz again you will have to go back through this process to play any other server until they find a fix to this issue.

I just run the _runA2CO.cmd file in the OA folder for a clean non-mod run of Arma 2. There's also one for running with the beta patch. Then I have a batch file for running DayZ w/ beta patch and one for without it.

Ahh, I appreciate the info, the other method that Dallas posted seemed a ton easier and worked.

I tried running the _runA2CO.cmd file but it didn't seem to help me. =/

This was the best method at least for me, thank you kindly Dallas :)

This was working for me like a charm....now after a week or so I have had internet troubles with my ISP and now it loads....gives me Main menu......and ARMA 2 OA has stopped working.

I did not try dallas his method since Im not down with downgrading the betas...

'specially since it has worked for so long under the newest....
