Vexta 0 Posted July 22, 2012 One thing that is really deterring me from this game is the zombies. They need to change. They start off really fast and as they get closer they just stop. They're really difficult to hit with a gun and they should be made more 'zombie-like'. A little slower, headshots only etc. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Sick 'n Twiztid 0 Posted July 22, 2012 My issue is from the latest patch.Apparently when you're dead you have awesome eyesight!GOOD TO KNOW!Since the patch i've been getting aggro from zombies a mile away while crouch slow-walking.Example:Was in an industrial 2 story warehouse, on the 2nd floor, near a window, sitting still *crouched*.A zombie aggro'd from across a field. WTF?I agree with the slower moving zombies IF they moved just as fast indoors.That would create a much scarier environment.AS IS, you dont even have to be scared (of zombies) while running through the middle of a major city. With the AK crouch running, you're just as "noisy" as when you're full on sprinting.I think the biggest issue with the zombies is not their speed, what they carry, or how they move...it's their overall programming. I die more from freak zombie attacks than anything else in the game. Attacking you through walls/objects, hitting you when you can't hit them, freakish attack range, etc... Orbmaniac 7 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) just want to add one thing, its no zombies in the game, its Infected! rocket has tried to be sure people know that. and infected are alive.but yeah the infected pathfinding sucks lol, thats why rocket made them faster. so they can catch up when AI screws up. will be fixed when AI is good. Sol (DayZ) 132 Posted July 22, 2012 DayZ zombies are more like "28 Days Later" zombies... they run and are still prone to standard physiological elements, like having a disfunctional heart because you just blew it away with a shotgun. They are not Romero/Brooks zombies incarnations, so they don't have to move slowly or eat brains, or die from only headshots.Here is my opnion on the current DayZ zombies:- They still run too freakishly stupidly insanes fast. They need to be a little less excited, and move thier arms and legs less rapidly for the distance they travel. Currently they look like the Road Runner doing a burnout on ice, or The Flash on meth.- They have some kind of ESP line of sight shit going on still as mentioned by Sick 'n Twiztid where they can see you from outer space through a shitstorm. This is especially annoying when you are in a building and don't even see then coming, until they are raping you from behind you while you're trying to find your toothbrush.- They glitch through closed doors, barbed wire, and walls still (though far far less than previous versions) like Casper the friendly ghost.- They spawn right on top of you (yes, still) but don't even buy you a drink first- They wander too close to noob spawn areas, like the beach at Kamenka is usually crawling with zombies. I have been eaten at least 5 times within 3 seconds of logging in because of beach wanderers.- They have weird directional AI where they will wander some general direction for a nice while, meandering along quite realistically.... to suddenly 180° about-face for no reason at all, and at super speed. It doesn't seem natural, and they remind me of the "too much ketamine raver" video.So, while the OP reasoning doens't coincide with the DayZ lore/world... You can just crouch around buildings/trees and lose them.How easy it is to lose them has zero bearing on how they should behave in terms of running speed and other AI operations. I can hear gunfire and zombies walk away from it. they need to be more sensitive to it and at greater distances. the head shot only idea is also very good idea. wolfstriked 143 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) If Rocket plans on leaving them so that they are a nuisance only(by just funneling them to a barn etc)then make them slow undead that take a huge amount of ammo before going down.This will increase immersion better than what we have now since it looks better.Make them harsher though by bite marks that can get infected.
