Server hoppers

So a bit of a rant here - the last three times I've got to the northwest airport I've been killed by someone who spawns in on top of me or behind me.

Players are getting into the habit of getting to the airport than hopping servers to get the loot there on every server and it causes all kinda of retarded scenarios where you get shot by someone who just magically appears near you or in a room you have just cleared.

The most recent scenario was I went through the firehouse at the airport and cleared the tower only to go down two floors in the tower than back up to the top to find a bandit spraying me down with lead.

I can't think of a fix besides maybe a spawn protection that prevents you from be shot or from shooting anyone for 20-30 seconds when you join a server.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I dunno he could have logged in just coincidentally.

I was playing earlier and the server crashed while I was in the airfield then logged back in a couple minutes later and I logged in practically beside someone lol

That's what I thought the first time, but myself and 2 clan members have seen a total of 6 people spawn in their building at that airport over the past 2 days.

This is why i think we need a notification on who you got killed by.

Its should by no means be a "kill feed", it would just be a notification that the victim can see.. and if he so pleases, share with the rest of the server.

The ultimate fix is TO FUCKING DISPERSE / SPREAD THE ( INTERESTING ) LOOTS SPAWNPOINTS. And stop putting EVERYTHING to the airfields. It isn't that hard i swear Chernarus is big.

Yep right now the only place worth going for good stuff is the airfield and went there. Now people tends to recognize building where the good stuff is and just go there, hangars, barracks, firestation.

This is just a matter of time before it kills the game. I guess mission and stuff should come soon (in beta maybe?).

Yeah I think it's an issue.

This is still in alpha though so I'd expect the devs to be well aware of this kind of thing and probably have full intentions of fixing it.

I agree, the loot spawning should be much more random, you should be able to find an ak in some small remote village, rare but possible. things like people waiting for weapons to respawn or constantly going for same locations HAS NO BENEFIT to the game at all, not a realism, balance, fun, exploration, luck, surprise or secret aspect of the game.

this should not make it out of alpha.

How would a mission fix this? Make it even more scripted?!

If i wanted a scripted mission i would go play any other ARMA:2 mod.

All that needs to be done, is that spawning is completing random. like i can find a nvg in a cabin.

I would understand some of the best Weapon's and equipment would be found at the air ports, there basically the only military buildings. But that just makes people server hop.

A soultion would be:

A: Make items spawn near or around Buildings

B: Make almost all buildings enterabul

C: A new Map, with more urban centres but still retains the mass forest cherno offers.

A: Probably make things too hard to find, grass ect. Just randomize it more across the map.

B: Not possible unless you create new buildings and add them ontop of the map (like cars)

C: The map is fine, 40-99 players have plenty of land, IF loot is more randomized (ie. go to A)

The solution I have proposed before is for any town/base a person connecting at those locations is moved out of the area a bit when they log in, unless they disconnected less than 5 minutes ago and are logging into the same server. This prevents people coming on from being off for a long time and suddenly appearing next to people who have just fought their way there. As well deals with server hoppers, but allows someone who put the effort in to get there but has net issues to come back to where they were.

I'd almost rather have it where characters are unique to servers. Most of us have our favorite servers we play on anyway. If players could be moved 100+ meters away from any building when spawning in, that would be ok... but I'd rather you just have to start new if you go to another server in order to prevent this kinda BS.

All loot should spawn randomly in this game. I don't care if it means that NVGs spawn inside a dog house. It's stupid to have all the good stuff be in one location which is already held down by a team of people almost 24/7
