Secondary weapon?

Hi

Is there any way i can have two weapons because earlier when i was playing i found a hatchet and a rifle but i could not equip the hatchet without out dropping the rifle and when i dropped the rifle it dissapered?

the hatchet was on my toolbelt but when i clicked remove from toolbelt nothing happened.

If anyone could help id appreciate it because id rather have the hatchet as its dosnt attract more zombies but i dont really want to just leave my rifle.

Right click on the hatched - when used as weapon - and click "add to toolbelt". The axe will no longer be a weapon but a tool in your inventory to be used for cutting wood. You can only equip one primary at the same time.

A primary weapon takes 10 slots in your bag

Both items occupy the primary slot, you have to choose. You can have one primary equipped and one secondary equipped at once, anything else you want to carry goes into your backpack.

You can either have ur rifle armed, or your hatchet. Both are considered main weapons.

The problem was i already had my rifle in the primary slot and my hatchet was on my toolbelt but i couldnt figure out how to put the rifle in my bag and when i dropped it, it just dissaperared. i was only using the basic backpack so maybe it couldnt fit it in?

Yup, it's a bit of a bug. If you try and put it into your backpack when there isn't enough room (10 slots for main weapon/5 slots for secondary) it'll disappear.

ok so theres just no way to keep both un less i get a better backpack, thast annoying. thansk anyway

It devastated me when I first started playing. I found a hunting rifle, but I wanted to store it in my backpack so I could use my shotgun still. Bad idea. I was like "WTF where'd it go?!?!"

You can keep the axe on your tool belt and use it to chop wood. Right click it then "add to toolbelt".
