PLEASE Stop Duplicating Topics

Recommended Posts

I'm sorry if I offend anyone, or if this seems like an insult, but here it is.

I took a break from these forums for one week.

When I came back, I found the first page of the Suggestions forum was completely identical to the one I left earlier. New threads, same old ideas beaten to death by people who either refuse to use the search button, don't know of its existence, or want their fifteen minutes of fame.

EVERYTHING I see here had been suggested already. The PvP fixes, the removal of sniper rifles, the identification of bandits...all old news. If you REALLY want to help this community, look for the old threads, with two or three pages of feedback, and provide your own feedback to that. Because feedback is how ideas improve, not spamming. Ok? Please. Before you post, search te forum for something identical. Scroll about eight pages back, skimming over the names. Punch in three or four combinations of search terms.

And if there are so many there with vague names, like "my idea to fix pvp", "fixing the disconnect problem", etc etc, don't automatically assume your idea is new, innovative, insightful, and a breath of fresh air.

Because fifty nine other people have probably already suggested 90% of your idea's content, and it would be much, much better for The entire community if you tossed in your 10% for the OP and others to review, rather than mindlessly posting your suggestion.

That's all, folks.

I'm sincerely tempted to go around, find the first ever version of common posts, dated May or something, and paste that on there with the suffix "old news".

there should be a stickied list and duplicates should be locked. It's pointless having this subforum if it's just left in this state.

It's a bit ironic considering you have duplicated a thread that has undoubtedly existed many times before.

Did you bother to search before you posted this? I think not.

Perhaps people should begin using tags more often, that way, you can find related topics more accurately.

Yes, I know it exists, for a fact. But do you think others do? Evidently not.

I'm beginning to think the suggestion forum exists as more like a garbage bin for topics rocket and devs never want to read. In which case there's no point in moderating it for content.

Either a radical rethinking/restructuring of the forums or a completely different system, Which again given staffing.. doubtful, very doubtful.

But anyone who uses this forum knows in was restructured a while ago, and it still hasnt helped, search function is better but... and im sorry to have to do this OP, http://dayzmod.com/f..._+suggest +list

the problem here is that anyone who actually plays this game, is aware of how understaffed they are, expecting enough moderators to wade through this is just.. its not gonna happen.

Tbh though as much as it pains to see repetitive threads ye shouldnt aggressively dismiss peeps. From what ive gathered this is striving towards being a stand alone but this is incredibly difficult due to the interests of gaming industry (ie source of funding).

The only way, as ive seen so far, Rocket is attempting to win support from this industry is by pointing towards the explosion in popularity, which has come about, because we all have been thinking of this game for years. Theres no original ideas here, there wasnt even in the beginning!

The problem is that if hes using this strategy to win support (cant say its the best method because i cant say my opinions in business strategy are valid), it requires that momentum to carry on and flourish, to really kick the industry in the teeth.

The Rocket Vanguard haters, there worse than the trolls, and they discourage genuinely enthusiastic people, which at this point in the creation of the game (given that strategy) is counter productive. Not to mention incredibly ego centric and pathetic to read.

The only way the Mods will be able to keep up the merging and closing of threads is if 'WE' help them, and by doing so you also send a strong message to the mods asto how you want the forum to 'work'...

REPORT Duplicates...

Very simple, you see something you know is a double, hit the report button so the mods are alerted about the double, if you want to make their live even easier, add the link to the original thead (you had in mind) in the report ... and keep doing this, as far as i see this is not spamming or even harrasing the mods, as there are clear rules on suggestions and using search, it's just that the amount of new posts is so large that it's hard to keep up unless there are one or two mods working 24/7 on the suggestion forum alone... so it's just like Ingame DayZ, want it to change, DO something about it ! (or atleast do what you can)

What makes you think people haven't seen other threads that complain about duplicate threads?
