Was lurking Cherno, didn't really have good gear, main pistol was still a makarov. As I'm crouch-walking through I see 2 bandits walk in front of me. Neither of them see me, through reflex i aimed the gun at their heads, with enough time to put them both down.

But I didn't. Why, I don't know.

The second guy sees me, doesn't fire. His buddy then turns around, give it a second and kills me.

Sucks for them there was a guy i was friendly to in the building next to this incident, and he put them both down. Sometime later i came back to the location and to my surprise their bodies and some other dead bandits were scattered around.

Got some good gear in the end. :)

Being kind to bandits gets you killed. They're skinned like that for a reason, shoot them first deal with moral dilemmas later. Otherwise they're just gonna shoot you ;)

The problem with the pistol is that it is always raised. How can you trust that guy unless he sits down? If you see a player with a new skin and a pistol the right thing to do is shoot. There is more risk dealing with that person than there is a dude who looks like a bandit and has a good weapon. It also depends on how far north you are.

A lack of gestures and animations to be easily accessed kills things.

and here's the opposite end of the spectrum:

i'm a bandit wandering through cherno - hear gunshots around the church. spot a survivor fending off a massive horde - i can tell he's low on ammo and needs help. he runs into the church and i follow him inside, holding back the zeds with my winchester. so now i approach him and ask "are you friendly? do you need supplies"

he responds "yes, and i'd like some ammo if possible"

i decide to give his a little present, open my gear to drop my winchester, and the bast*** unloads his makarov into my head.

his response afterwards, "i don't trust bandits"
