The one thing i hate about Dayz

Recommended Posts

That it takes exactly 3 minutes and 30 seconds to run 1,000 Meters(test your self by using waypoints)

To run from krasnostav airstrip to NWAF at 8k meters that's almost 27 minutes of me doing nothing but holding W down. TWENTY SEVEN MINUTES for me to probably end up running to my grave.

This game needs an auto run just like WoW, as sad as that is to put this game in that low of a status but it is very needed. That or increase the joke of a vehicle spawn we have, it took me 2 hours to drive my 13 mph boat just to go all the way to the top right to pick up the 72mph boat, to find out a STUCK ATV with no gas and a TRACTOR were at black lake. Sigh...it's a shame krasnostav gives nothing but crap all day and with no heli's i can see why im so safe here.

3:30 for a Kilometer is VERY fast.. especially with all that gear.

Good Job ;) Sorry about your bad luck with vehicles.

At the start I thought you were complaining that it took too fast to get somewhere.

It's fine as it is, if anything I want it to be bigger.

I have auto run before so I think there is a way. It usually happens to be by accident when I alt+tab and then come back to the game. I'll be running on auto-pilot. I have to click shift + w to stop.

I think its fine because a lot can happen while you run from one place to another.. actually when I think of it, MOST things happen during the journey rather than when you actually reach the destination!

I wish the map was BIGGER, so it took like 5 hours to go from one side to the other! That way migration would be slower.

I thought he meant the same thing lol Obviously a man who has never played Haven and Hearth. Try spending 6 hours 3-4 days in a row trying to find a good spot to start a camp where you aren't going to get stomped by the local raiders. 30 minutes is just a nice compromise for now, I imagine it will only get "worse".

Get a penny, hold W down, block it under S to make sure it applies pressure on W.

It takes a top athlete in our world to run 800m in under 2 minutes, it would probably take another 30 seconds to run an extra 200m for them. Now think about this, this is a simulator, where you are an average person, most likely without any physical training, running with a bunch of gear. I think 1000m in 3 and a half minutes is reasonable. Besides, if you had an auto-run key, you'd most likely be popped off by somebody while you were doing something else.

No. This game needs nothing like WoW. WoW is a shitty game, and DayZ is a good game. If you put things from a shitty game into a good game, it makes the good game a shitty game. If you don't like the run, that's your fault, this games not for you.

How about you don't run from the coast to the NWAF? How about you explore and gear up from town to town / deer stands on the way? Simples.

You can only complain about shit like this if you've never run in real life. 2:11:96 is the world record. Running a minute shy of it while carrying over 20kg of gear is a feat of strength

Do you knwo how many survivors we would start seeing just running in a straight line, probably AFK. then you know what we would start reading, "there needs to be a feature where ppl can't kill you while your auto running......I mean, i went AFK, ate a pizza, changed the oil in my car, and cut the grass, came back and I was dead"....or ppl would go AFK and forget about the game, come back 2 hours and later and be 400 miles into the debug field.

Solution: Everyone spawns at NW airfield! That way we can get geared and start shooting at things with little to no downtime! Hurraaay!

Double tap left shift and see what magic happens. It's also in the game controls section.

I don't think dissing another game makes you cool, WoW is a significantly better game than Day Z, you just happen to not like it.

Don't be a child.

As for the Op: I have had times when I wished there was an autorun, but I don't mind it how it is. There's really no spot on the map that I -need- to go to. Weapons spawn at many other places than the NWAF, why not visit one thats closer.

Why do you need a higher end weapon? Just for pvp? To kill zombies?

It's most likely pvp, in that case you would want your long run from the coast to NWAF and then back to the coast  to be easier.

30 minutes is not a very long period of time... Stop off along the way and hit deer stands / towns / barns. Listen to music. The NWAF is not the be all of dayz.

30 min of nothing but running is a very long time, especially if all the running you do just finds you dead. There are only 2 things i look at when i'm about to die: "When can i find a bigger backpack, and how long did i just spend running"

You remember this is a video game....right?

Get a penny, hold W down, block it under S to make sure it applies pressure on W.

http://elitekeyboard...2&pid=pdkb400bn Is my keyboard, it has 45grams(your average shitty bubbleboard that most people have [cough Logitech cough]weigh around 60g.., 1 nickle is 5 grams and it would take 6 nickels to depress it. (i'm a keyboard enthusiast http://geekhack.org/ ////// http://www.overclock...-keyboard-guide )

1. This char is going on 3 days now with 0 murders and 2 bandit kills in self defense leaving electro spawn

2. I have practically lived in Krazno and Berezino for the past 24 in-Game hours going back and forth changing servers every couple hours, The air field and tents after 15+ checks on both places literally have given me nothing. I was stuck crap until one server i found a dead guy at krazno /w a 24 slot coyote pack and an m16,

3. I have taken a 13 MPH boat from Nizhnoye to guba inlet TWO times now, at 13mph it literally took 60+ minutes each time, just to get the 72 MPH raft. Why 2 times? Server restart.

4. I went to the NWAF to look for ghillie, tents and night vision. Just so happened i got lucky today at the NWAF and in 1 run through vs 15+ checks on the crappy "low" military drop places, and double berezino markets not only did i find a ghillie, tent, and night vision. I also found an M4A3 CCO, m9 SD, AND a fuckin SVD, It doesn't stop there though, on my way out i found a heli site /w an NV FAL. So, in 1 run through of the NWAF over spending 10+ hours roaming North East Cherno land and finding squat i am now stocked and ready to spend life again in the hills, building a camp, living off the land, and taking my 72mph PBX from Rify to electro in less then 10 minutes to pick up mates while i wait for heli's to get put back in, get my hands on it and bounce before people start flocking back to krasno again.

So yeah..spending 60+ minutes driving a boat, then running another 30+ minutes is pretty boring when im forced to hold the key down..

@JackFTL: you forgot the second part of my sentence that you ignorantly decided to cut in half so you could make up some kind of insult to garner attention by putting words in my mouth figuring the op has opinions you don't like or understand. That or you're just pre-pubescent Drama Whore. "as sad as that is to put this game in that low of a status but it is very needed" I quote the second half for you. Once finding out you're a narrow minded ding bat and others threw beans at your CoD-Like Tunnel Vision incompetence. All they literally did was show off their preschooler fallacies as well.

It's ignorant dipshits like you that i'd shoot in game for my first murder wishing i was cleansing the real life gene pool, hopefully they won't make a second idiocracy movie and have you star in it. I highly doubt your "friendly" in game, maybe i'm wrong and all your friends just secretly hate you. I know i would. ignorant, two faced hypocrites like you need to choke on your own smugness already, because you may be "friendly" in game but you sure are an asshole everywhere else.

yes please add a function to help people run at a fixed speed in a fixed heading so they remove hands from keyboards and take extra time reaching for z or alt+f4 ..... <3 snipers

Don't add any MMO stuffs in here. It's realism survival. The distance and the moving speed are good atm. What I want is a much bigger map with more cities and villages. That would be awesome.

Realism survival or not, it's still a game, i'm all into immersion but there is a limit. Even post apocalyptic survival games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas with its smaller game world has autorun function and they're not MMOs( seriously i never used the autorun in the Fallout games because the world is far too small but in DayZ i felt like i need to.. hold W for 15 minutes, read a book and BANG! you're dead)

Unfortunately, it's a pretty narrow-minded viewpoint to say that because WoW is a "bad game" (which is entirely opinion anyway), it must have zero good features and that the re-use of anything in another game is bad. I guess chatboxes are also the hallmark of a "shitty game"?

I would appreciate the inclusion of auto-run without some gimmick like Steam overlay or keyboard macros, because you do a LOT OF RUNNING in this game. I would enjoy a more dense map or more options for a larger number of military spawns. The Balota airfield and the Krasno airfield are just inadequate compared to the Stary camp or the NW airfield, so running to one of the two latter locations is pretty much top priority for a lot of players.

I think a sprawling urban map would be awesome, where there are a large number of good loot spawns and they're spaced so that something interesting can be encountered relatively soon.

Running Simulator 2012 really isn't much fun, and you're just a masochist if you want to do something boring for an hour or two just to get 15 minutes of entertaining action in a video game.

I appreciate the open world, and I like the current map design, but it could be improved by not making a small handful of good loot spawns spaced out by 15-20 minutes of NOTHING but running in between.
