ultraMicrobiologist 0 Posted July 21, 2012 One gun will have many names. Colt's 1911 is just M19.That is like a RPK, Galil, SKS, SVD, etc. are all AK variants. Manufactures will put tweaks on designs and adjust the name. Running around calling everythin that is similar to a 1911 a 1911 may get you funny looks from gun buffs. :PSorry to rain on your parade but SVD and Galil arent based on AK and as such aren't variants of the same gun.Galil is the closest as its based on RK-62 a Finnish redesign of the original AK-47, there are lots of similarities but also differences and they don't use the same ammo also different iron sights and all wooden parts replaced with steel and plastic. They do however have the same gas based reloading mechanism.SVD is not based on AK, does not use the same ammo as AK (unless you have the 5.45 variant) , and while there are similarities like the fire selector, iron sights they are primarily cosmetic, not really surprising as they were designed by the same people who did AK. Regiee 5 Posted July 22, 2012 When you're ex-military, it is very frustrating and always will be. Even cops don't seem to know the difference half the time. Talking to one and asked how much ammunition they generally carried for their side-arms and he said 3 clips.... damn near face palmed, it's so damn annoying, but that's because going through basic it is ingrained that it is a Magazine, not a clip.Well then i guess ex-military personal need to understand they are playing a video game and are not still on the battle field.
