gibonez 3633 Posted May 21, 2012 They should allow you to destroy Dmr and m14 mags in order to extract the ammo from the magazines and convert them to m24 and m40 magazines. They are both the same type of ammo 7.62 nato. 1 - 20 round dmr mag should turn into 4 - 5 round m24 mags.
fullmetalmonkey 0 Posted May 21, 2012 The same can be also be said for the Revolver and M1911 aswell if thats the case.It would be neat if they could add it especially with the expanded menu system where you can use items in your backpack. Im assuming its going to a right click type addition to apply stuff in the next patch, i don't see why there shouldn't be an option to remove the ammo from a magazine. Also it would be nice to be able to place empty magazines as traps.EDIT: The only issue i can think of is having where will you get these empty magazines to put the rounds into? Land Squid 22 Posted May 21, 2012 As I understand it existing M24's are being rechambered to .300 WinMag across the Army with newly procured rifles already in that chambering.

-=Grunt=- (DayZ) 0 Posted May 21, 2012 M240 mags into 20 M24 mags... Har har.Winchester ammo into M1014/R870 ammo too.
Oddball_E8 1 Posted May 21, 2012 If they could implement a sort of "ammo-mag-gun" system so we could find empty mags, and just plain boxes of ammo and then have to fill those mags ourself, that would be awesome...so if you have an M240 and find a mag, you would still have to find enough 7.62N to fill it :Did love that. gibonez 3633 Posted May 21, 2012 Finding a belt of m240 ammo would net you 100 rounds of ammo for the m24 this might be a problem.Although maybe not since m240 belts are so rare.
wallace71 3 Posted May 21, 2012 implying that the winchester ammo isn't super-common already. and the M1014 rounds are pretty common if you know where to look.
gibonez 3633 Posted May 21, 2012 It has nothing to do with ammo being super common it has to do with ammo having some kind of standardization. It is not realistic and makes no sense that the ammo for the Winchester and the m1014 is not interchangeable. Same applies to the DMR and m24 ammo.
Runefox 1 Posted May 21, 2012 Since the Winchester 1866 in Real Life is actually a rifle, making it use rifle ammunition rather than shotgun shells would solve that one pretty nicely. As for M240 ammo, I imagine getting an empty M240 box and then having to find the ammo would suffice.I do agree that ammo should be able to be broken down, but does the engine support that? sephirotic (DayZ) 1 Posted May 23, 2012 Finding a belt of m240 ammo would net you 100 rounds of ammo for the m24 this might be a problem.Although maybe not since m240 belts are so rare.Note that usually sniper rounds are of better quality of machineguns, so it would be interesting to simulate a poor ballistic performance of an round taken from other gun. I'd love a system with independent MAGAZINE/AMMO management. It would be easier to get ammo packs without magazines, but match ammo would be rare, and you would still need to find proper empty magazines.By doing this, also adding low quality ammo and the ability to jam a gun would be awesome, but that is just dreams, lots of script would be needed, a full reconstruction of the inventory system would be needed to be done, and most of all a way to save your itens in a safehouse, independent of the server you play would be the best, because itens get lost so easily nowadays it wouldbt be worth the hassle
