Nice fancy text fella.

I'm willing to bet most of the people that would oppose this idea, are the ones who will be the most devastated when they can't watch cat videos or stream porn.

Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ" Why are you even on this forum when all you do is post single word response?

I feel the need to ask, was that link supposed to be aimed at this thread somehow, or was that a further attempt at trying to impress other trolls?

That's such a boring and impractical reason!

Are you honestly trying to say you're happy sitting inside a yard with nothing to do for fun but throw rocks at the birds?

Don't be so ready to keep this game a generic FPS deathmatch. I go back on what I've stated before, this isn't an apocalypse (except maybe for the first hour of a character). This is post-apocalypse, and surviving is more than just staying alive, it's establishing life under pressing circumstances. I don't understand; if this game was released post-alpha, and already had this feature in it, all the little boys would be squealing with joy.

Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ"

You can have some beans.

(You look like you're starving)

I love throwing stuff at birds!

Really? I feel sorry for you, you sadistic little bastard.

Another element to consider here is that in time, we would see some awesome games which would become highly sought after. I'd imagine most would be shitty little arcade games, but I'd still enjoy this feature. In a real life apocalypse, no one here would choose to go without video games, and it's not like they're hard to come by. You had better have some good shit to trade me though, I will have all of the consoles ;)

On top of requiring all the essential parts to using a console (TV, power, etc.) it should also be necessary to have a couch, which would recquire at least a ute to transport, and 2 people to move. This adds a variety of interesting circumstances, and pushes the idea further back into the endgame.

Again, I feel the need to quote myself: "Rather than trying to get one up on others, you could take the core idea of a thread and suggest ways to make it better or different. That element here is improving the endgame, and long term playability of DayZ", which also ties in to the fact that underground bases will come in to effect. I'm trying to make this a thing that people want to do, and ideally, establishing a base also entails making it a desirable place to dwell.

It would be great to see some comments from others who also wish to add spice to the end game, some real world 'objectives' and things to acheive. Do people like that exist here? Or is this forum just full of kids who reject ideas like this 'cos they're jealous they've never got that far, and don't want to see another mechanic in the game that they won't be successful at?

Sorry to break it to you son, but as soon as people think they can get away with it, ie. a zombie apocalypse takes place, there is going to be a lot of rape.

/Previous comment considered null & void, thread resumed.

I would bet on my tits that if this was implemented into the game (in some way) before you got your hands on it, you would be pissing your pants screaming "ERRRHMA GUURD. DIS SAAAAA KEEEWL". I know my idea isn't without flaws, but that is what forums are supposed to be for.

I guess you can sit on the floor, but I'd hope that most people would already have a couch. Getting all the other pieces for the console should be quite difficult. The loot should be extremely rare, and found in residential areas that are crawling with 2-3 times more zombies than right now. Finding a complete set would only be possible by raiding someone's base, which adds another reason to assault bases other than for weapons.

I support this idea and agree with the reasoning of Haplo.

It would add depth, long time motivation and charme to the game.

Even a couch i would try to get if there would be some.

I always look out for the Mountain Dew even though it has no game-mechanic related attributes (other than Coke or Pepsi).

It is just cool.

Let us code our own games or set up multiplayer environments with any kind of networking/communication networks.

Some kind of beverages and snacks and i could become a happy camper.

This is more of a suggestion for when underground bases/generators are introduced, but hopefully it can get some attention before then!

What I'd like to suggest is introducing a TV set, a console, and game cartridges as lootable items. It would be cool if the games were developed by the community, and this really suits how Rocket is trying to involve the public with the development of DayZ.

Not sure how to implement this, but I was thinking there could be some kind of rating system for the games here on the forum. A game that gets rated highly becomes rare, thus increasing it's value further.

To be honest, when I said "*a form of currency", that was really just to attract some attention from the haters. I don't agree with currency, but rather a player to player trade system based off the value and demand for items in the game.

I don't know how this works from a programming perspective, but I think it would be a really cool feature that would add to the immersion of (future) endgame.

Edit: To summarize, players need a generator, a TV, a console, and the minigames, to play them. Minigames become a commodity, used for trade. This is way off yet obviously, for if/when underground bases are introduced, and I wanna get comfy..

Day Z Crossing?

Nah, I think I would be too focused on surviving and not being murdered or starving or dehydrating.

Underground bases? Maybe we could also decorate them with furniture stolen from the houses, even some rare zombies could drop a painting by Van Gogh to hang in our underground bases?

Thanks dude, great to finally see some positive feedback.

What do you mean by; set up multiplayer environments with any kind of networking/communication networks.?

I think it would be best if this was a very simple feature, as if it were a retro console. I love the idea of the community being the source of the games, as this would mean that in time we see some fantastic games, but they should remain predominantly shit so that it doesn't detract from DayZ. When a good game comes out, it will spawn at the standard rate, but then that rate will decrease as the game becomes highly rated. This (to some extent) simulates a real world environment where initially there was lots of that game, but as people loot it, it becomes rare.. Multiplayer games would be great, as long as each player has a controller. It should stay kinda retro too ie.1-4 players.

RunningScared, Day Z what..?

If that is what you choose to focus on, go for it, and I'll kit out my base while you learn to play.

I'd love to decorate my base. You won't see me living in some dingy shithole when there's a post apocalyptic world full of leather couches and whatnot else just sitting there for the taking (actually, chances are my house will still look like a crack den, but it will a fancy crack den).

If this game gets an official release, having Van Gogh paintings in it may be a breach of copyright (not sure how that shit works?), and I seriously doubt a zombie would carry around a painting anyway.. Unless it was small, and it was already in the zombies pocket.

On that note though, it would be pretty sweet if art from the community was implemented in a similar way to the video games!!

the game sure needs something like this. i honestly haven't seen any major changes or additions since i started playing the alpha a few months ago, and the game is getting pretty stale.

i think this actually is a realistic option if you think about it. humans are creatures of comfort, we wouldn't just abandon that if an apocalypse happened. with time video games would be highly sought after.

i like this suggestion but as you said, you should need a number of rare individual parts, such as: the generator and fuel, a television set, power cables, av cables, a controller and the console (all found separately), and i like the idea of making popular games very rare. it would to some extent simulate the real world. a popular xbox/ps3 game would be common at first, but as it gets looted it would become harder to find.

i don't understand why even haters are hating at this. it would be a sweet way to bring immersion and authenticity to game.

well, energy would be kind of "expensive", lights would be easier to mantain, so waht about monopoly in there, of ocurse not, you can play another game in the meanwhile, like solitude.

Why would I need or want lights? In real life I would probably use a candle or something anyway; they're easy to make, don't need a generator, and won't give your away your position as badly.

I know Rocket wants to implement underground base building, but it needs to be something more than a hole with lights in it. In real life I'd even be looting kitchen and bathroom appliances amongst all the various other things.. To survive means to continue living, which for me includes making myself comfortable. I honestly think an apocalypse would make my life better in that respect. I will have all the loots.

OK you want a logical reason why this idea sucks here you go! IF you were to find a generator in a world without electricity and was able to get it running would you really want to waste all of the fuel playing VIDEO GAMES. Have you watched the walking dead series? if not the group comes across one of the disease control buildings (can't think of what they actually called it). This building had like over 100 generators inside it and the building was on like extreme power saver mode and it only lasted like a couple months using only the power that is necessary. Now tell me would you waste even a drop of that fuel that is keeping you safe from zombies TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES! i rest my case.

I guess YOU would rather be out everyday risking your life running from zombies, instead of just sitting safe in your bunker.

Long post killed with one short sentence.

Please check out my suggestion in terms of what could be established as an End-Game possibility.

(

The 'End-Game' possibility and the over-run of infected/zombies)

That's actually pretty solid suggestion, I support it to some extent, not so much the cures etc you start talking about, but a dynamic, constantly changing world would be fantastic. It would also allow groups to establish societies in heavily cleansed areas.

a good endgame idea would be you fund a cj-130 on a airfield you reapiar it (this takes a long time and many parts) and then you fly to lingor island another dayz map

grown men trying to survive the apocalypse sitting around playing video games wasting electricity. sounds pretty dumb when i say it like that. i like someone elses suggestion to have a simple deck of card to play whatever game you want with them. while i think a game console will be stupid i do think plays should be given the tools to have dumb fun. some of the best times in dayz is when you all get bored and have a glow stick dance party.

Well arent you confident about yourself. Prepper or not, you cant know in advance if you have what it takes (i.e. mentally) to really survive or not. The equipment is a good start, but its not necessarily enough. You should try trekking in to the wilderness to live there for a year before you come here telling people that you would live more comfortably in a post-apocalyptic world. <_<

Now, back on topic.

I do agree that there should be more depth to the endgame, but seriously, video games? And funnily enough it was you who said "Not sure if bad troll, or just stupid...". You made a promise earlier on, to stop vouching about this when someone gives you a good reason. You keep on quoting yourself although the reason has been stated many times: REALISM! Yeah, we need comfort in such a terrible situation and the importance of it should be remembered. BUT VIDEOGAMES!! OMFG. If you really would manage to regain electricity, the last thing you would use it for is videogames. Unless ofcourse you plan on fortificating yourself (successfully !) in a working (!) power plant. When the base construction is implemented, there are so many different things to think about before even dreaming of entertainment, just like there would be in the real world.

DayZ is a hardcore game, and this, if implemented, would take away a lot of its feeling of desperation. IMO thats a big part of what makes DayZ what it is. Videogames dont fit in the world in any way. Chernarus must be one of the last places on earth to find videogames. How many televisions have you seen so far?

Not a single minigame in DayZ, never! Well okay maybe in 2020, when were playing DayZ 4 in a map the size of Europe, with the ability to piss, shit, masturbate and scratch your ass while you have metrics telling you when to do so. Then there could be a "satisfaction" or "happiness" meter to tell you when to please yourself, (not in that way, jerking off has its own hornyness meter) in order to try maintain sanity. When I think of it, actually even then I would suggest good ol' books instead of this nonsense. And no, I dont think books should be implemented in any way before 2020, before that the devs should concentrate on more important things.

Now would you please stop going on about this as you promised? No, no and no.
