Setting yourself a goal

Recommended Posts

Do you ?

In the beginning we were just doing the whole collect , shoot zeds like mad, journey around a bit but we always seemed to get stuck around the coastal area with one of us getting injured/ dying and having to wait for someone to respawn/ or come and fix the wounded. We were caught in the helltraps of Balota Cherno and Elektro, sure we trekked up north, grabbed some better weaponry , rode around on some bikes, did an ATV tour, ended up helping as many new spawns as we could by guarding them while they gunned up in the coastal spots. Then we made it our mission for a while to take down every barbed wire door blocker we came across, which we still do.

Current objective we have is to get a total of 1000 zeds each and i want tosecure myself a DMR , i have never made it past about 180 odd, even in the early shoot sprees, and i have only ever managed to find one DMR which was just recently lost to a connection issue whilst i was swapping out backpacks.I would like one again for the scoping/recon/overwatch ability .

1000 may not be a lot, but we are not just going to be sitting back plunking zeds from a safe distance, we only nail them if they are between us and what we want and we are in a hurry,or if they are aggroing on me or my small group. Atm i am only at 285 and on day 9 i am hoping to make the grand without dying, had some close calls with zeds, been sniped at NW field and nearly bumped into a whole clan in a forest who never saw us, was touch and go whether we would try and take them out, steal their gear, but we decided life over one or all of us going down, plus my lady said they may have been a bunch of good guys (yeeeeahhh riiight :) )

So this is our latest goal, 1000 zeds each plus a DMR for myself, my lady is happy with her close support Kobra. My mate i generally travel with is at 200+ with something like 20 days , he is the overwatch lad with his trusty DMR (bastid ! ) , my lady is at 72 zeds with 9 days.alive, she is my close in six watcher while i am generally point. We have a nice little routine going and dont rush in where Angels fear to tread so i have hope for our goal. Between us we still have a total of 0 murders which is something we would like to keep as well, unless its a kill or be killed situation.

Finding and realizing a goal is what DayZ us about. The people who lurk the Survivor HQ have it right; trading posts, medic teams, logistics networks, survivor-friendly forts, concerts, taxi services (including a trivia CashCab edition), guide services... the list goes on and on-- and often these things are done for free or for donations. It's amazing stuff.

People who get bored with the game, or start griefing noobs because "there's nothing else to do", really just need to step back and reevaluate what the game COULD be.

what about finding a mountain dew ???

i has one! its teh only item i absolutly must have a friend loot if i die, my characters have all had this can, its the only one ive yet seen.

my goal has generally been getting a decent rifle so i can provide better overwatch, over 40 deer stands, a stary sober run, barn runs, nothing, not even a cz550. i havent made it to the airfield or found a crash site yet, ive been kinda escorting my buddies from spawn and such so no real time.

I want to reach Skalisty Island. I've never been there, and I just want to see it for myself.

So far I've got the boat I need and have been scrounging up fuel. To my amazement and consternation, I also discovered that the Arma2 engine has tides, so the boat I left floating on the water is now good and stuck in the shallows.

My current goal is finding an ATV for my lone night strolls (last one flipped over a goddamned rabbit) but I've joined a group rather recently and we do "roleplay" tactical night raids, like a band of bandits would.

I think our next goal will be to walk through cherno then elktro as a "Bilogical hazard cleanup team". Not for the PVP aspec, but the whole "Empty the clips on all the friken zeds all around" sort of way, and too bad if a player is around.

Oh yeah tourism. I went to Pobeda Dam, Willow Lake, Black Lake, Grozovy Pass and Guba only to enjoy the view and breathe fresh air. And each time I've found amazing places and landscapes.

Now THERE would be a good place to hide my tent; right at the low water mark!

Up to 305 and still alive, been a slow night :) Funnily enough we were talking about swimming over to Skalisty the other night. The boats look as slow as a wet week plus finding fuel ..probably quicker swimming :)

I like to have a plan/goal in mind in order to keep the game interesting. I am married and have a child now so i can't play too much - but a generous ammount to keep me active, but I like to just set way points and make my way through towns seeing what I can gather (moving north). Thats pretty much it, it keeps me engaged and I have little to no desire to off other survivors or really aggro zombies. The sneaky element is quite fun in and of itself

what about finding a mountain dew ???

Just started playing again recently. That was seriously the first item I found. Mission complete. :V

I don't really have any real goals set up at the moment, cause I'm mostly just screwing around while waiting for friends to be able to get the game. At the moment, I just try to see how long I can stalk someone before they notice me. I followed this one group of 2 around for a good hour before losing them.

My goal is to find a gun and kill people since that's exactly what this game is rewarding. It's the most efficient way of gearing up and surviving.

Don't like it? Change the game. Otherwise it's just a few people trying to do something else when everyone else is playing FFA deathmatch, which is gonna end up in a disaster and wasted effort.

Man just... don't go there swimming. I went to Skalisty with a small boat twice today and this already took ages, without saying that a rainy weather will make your temp drop to 32° when you finally arrive.
