    The Sporter is NOT useless

Damn straight, put a hole in 'em that they weren't born with!
  2. If you're referring to the mod, and presuming you have a rifle in your hands, then walking is 100m/min, upright jogging is 100m/20s, crouched jogging is 100m/27s, and sprinting is 100m/15s. Jogging and sprinting are slightly faster carrying a pistol or no weapon at all. Your pace count is 62. SA could be different of course. Spent a lot of time practicing dead-reckoning in ARMA.

    The Sporter is NOT useless

From the age 8 to 18, a .22 was always hanging on my bedroom wall; first a single shot Remington my brother handed down, later a semi-auto Cooey that would chamber short, long, or long-rifle from a 10 round magazine. With a 4X scope mounted, that Cooey could cut dandelions at 20m. A lot of people refuse to believe it, but a .22 will meet most of your needs in a survival situation, and yes, they can kill an adult human at 100m or better. Check the video below for a demo (plus, these dudes are a hoot):

    easily looking behind you

Imagine you are moving on a North azimuth (000 degrees) toward an objective. You want to scan 'front left' (315 degrees) while maintaining forward travel. While moving forward, hold down 'strafe right', which puts you on a 045 azimuth. Using the mouse, aim 'front left'; the two actions effectively cancel each other out, restoring your original 000 azimuth. To scan 'front right' (045 degrees); 'strafe left'. Remember, the less you aim to the left or right of your line of travel, the less it negates your strafing; you may deviate from your original azimuth by a few degrees as a result. Use terrain features as checkpoints whenever possible. Advantages: * No need for awkward thumb contortions. * Faster engagement when required, as your weapon is now aimed where you are looking, not along your line of travel. * Slight course changes, and 'jogs' resulting from this method make it that much more difficult for someone to draw a bead on you. * Reinforces good navigation practice, and enhances situational awareness. * Could make you appear unstable, therefore dangerous, to other players. Cons: * May require a bit of practice. * Can run into a tree now and then, but hey, if you maintain situational awareness... * Could make you appear goofy, therefore trollable, to other players. Reserve Alt for when you're stationary.

Where the frack are all the infected? You were within 50m of a house and walked straight up to a heli crash with zed 0 in sight. It's not just this video; there a scores out there where zeds seem to be either missing completely, or lackadaisical at best. Are there servers that have removed, or effectively neutered the zeds, or am I just going blind?

New players cant get past learning curve

The whiny tone of the first sentence almost put me off reading the entire post, but I persevered out of courtesy; I want my 94 seconds back.

Why does my dayz looked washed out?

In Options->Video Options: 1. Ensure Interface Resolution and 3D Resolution are set to the same value 2. Disable Post Process Effects. Start from there, then tweak settings until you're happy with the result.

Why does everyone have a hat?

To keep in the smell of "BRAAAAAAINS"!
  10. If you can manage to keep your wits about you, you can get a rough idea of your distance from the person firing at you by noting the time interval between the "crack", and the report of the firearm; bullet will be traveling minimum 340m per second in order to break the sound barrier, so, 1.5 second interval equates to 510m for example.
