Show who you where killed by.

I know its been said before ..but i have to make another as today I got anoyed by a hacker.

Basically I was on ocuk server today..Now ocuk usually has a good few hackers on at any given time ..and although the admins say they keep it clean ..they do not ..as they put it " They need evidence" and ofc unless people are recording every time they play ..they cant have evidence ..so basicly no evidence = they let the hackers/cheaters run free.

This is was happened exactly ..I ran into chern with my hatchet after looting it from a shed near shore. I ran striaght to the orange apartment buildings that are across from the hospital at the back of chern..I ran right into the furthest away orange building from the hospital ( the one at the back ) as I ran in there was another player there with a winchester at the bottom of the staircase..I ran right into his face and started chopping him with my hatchet and as I was chopping him he was slowly backing off from me up the staircase ..when we reached the top Id hit him 9 times with the hatchet and he didnt die or break bone or anything. He started to aim up so i ran away for 2 seconds and he fired and missed me ..so i ran straight back to him after the 2 seconds and hit him another 2-3 times with the hatchet in the face before he shot me dead. Now Iv never had any problems / bugs using hatchet before on zombies or on players so In my view there is no bugs with it that would cause me to not kill this player after hittim him 11 times in the face whilst he was moving backwards slowly. The ocuk server had no lag/desync problems and also me and the player didnt too. So the player was obv cheating using godmode/increased health. But the problem here is that I couldnt report the player to the admins to keep an eye on him as I didnt know who killed me (vet server) as there name doesnt show who killed you..all that shows is that (Player) has died. Now how are admins suppose to combat cheaters when they dont know who they are?

Please for the love of god allow us to see who killed us.

when your dead you should not know who killed you. i understand your frustration but that would remove some of the realistic magic this game have.

and im sure he was not hacking. sometimes but rarely infected are able to take some beating before dying. even tough hes standing still with the crosshair in hes guts. (same happends on humans too? you dont see people charging players with hatchets often lol) its alpha. shit happends. ;)

Also what I would actually like is a ".............. is connecting" message

This way you know there may be a server hopper about to land nearby.

Not realistic i know but it shits me when i get shot by someone who logs into a room i just cleared. If i see someone is connecting i can perpare myself for a second or two.

Yep. Definitely need a kill cam. This will make the game even more dangerous for EVERYONE. As it stands, this game rewards people who camp and hide. You get shot and have no idea where from. There is no way to improve or learn from your death. Except a General form of even more paranoia.

Your dead ...realism doesnt matter after that so there name showing who killed you shouldnt matter at all and anyone saying it does is talking silly. He was 100 percent hacking and i can guarentee that bugs had no part to play in this ..i know this is alpha but people cant put all experiences like this down to lag/desync or bug issues ..its not always these...If they always do that ...thats how cheaters get away with it.

Just because its alpha doesnt mean a bug MUST be to blame.

A killcam isnt needed ...just a simple message telling you who killed you.

we do NOT need a kill cam. this would make voice chat so damn OP, you just tell friends where he shoot you from.

its scary yeah. but while the (loading) screen with black background is there you are standing still, visible in the world until you totally connect. so server jumping in city etc is not a good idea.

I disagree, perhaps a there should be a server log where admins can see who killed who instead? Like it would say in-game "player x was killed" but then it's logged on the server with an actual name, time and other information (information such as weapon or vehicle used and such?)

I mean, hacker problems aside, this could also have its own effects on gameplay.

EU NOHOP server shows who killed you and by what weapon.

Trying to go even further like

XX was killed by yy with ww in Berezino

Also working on showing when player disconnect to lobby and back .. the problem is disconnecting works even now just not if player just go to lobby as game does not handle it as disconnect.

Nope, I disagree. First, it is your fault for logging onto a server that you know is, by what you said, crawling with hackers. Also, it would eliminate the unkown factor of being killed. When you are sniped, you do not know who sniped you. Your guys (if they are not a bunch of desync'ing babies) will be haunted with the idea that a sniper is aiming right where he is hiding. But, if you know who killed you, you use teamspeak and simply say "Yeah it was this guy" and your guys just wait it out, knowing who the sniper is and who to look for on the player list, waiting for them to log off. Nope, just no. Eliminates much of the immersion.

Not all admins want to spend there time looking through all there logfiles. And how would it effect gameplay ? Just because you know who killed you ? Gameplay will be exactly the same.

No. Giving players an unrealistic knowledge in the game is always bad. How does this enhance the game in any way?

It doesn't, How could you possibly know that gunshots led to a player's death (if you didn't see it)? How could you possibly know the name of the location that a player was killed (if you weren't there)? How could you possibly know what weapon a player was carrying to commit a murder with?

You wouldn't. Therefore it shouldn't be in the game. Not to mention, if player deaths were shown with locations, you can bet your ass that players would swarm to that location looking for some action.

That is not the point of DayZ.

Nah your going too deep into it buddie ....First of all I should be able to log on any server I want and be able to know who killed me so i can report them also what if it was a different server with only 1 or 2 hackers ? I should just stop playing on the server I play on all the time with my friends because of a hacker ? No ty. And btw if a "sniper" as you used for an example did kill me ...you can tell usually from where they shot using logic and then tell your friends anyways. Its called teamwork and wont change just because I know the players name :)) ill tell you what eliminates much of the immersion ...hackers!

Once a setchel charge was planted on my camp, and it exploded, I was a little bit away but I could see that it was a setchel charge, not anything else, and after 2 minutes a guy with g36 sd with soldie clothing appeared, and he killed me and I couldn't see his name...

If the name of the player is shown when you died, you can report cheaters, or even show which gun he used, so that would be even easier to spot cheaters, since not all guns from ArmA is avaiable in DayZ.

And I think you don't need to care about realism since we don't know if we die In real life a scoreboard appears showing how much points you made in your life :D, maybe life it's just a program controlled by aliens that developed us to something... :)

Although I thought to myself in the past it would be nice, no. It wouldn't fit in the realism of DayZ. ESPECIALLY Killcams. Absolutely no.

Definitely No for killcam. If ppl are in group and one gets killed they can spot the sniper too easily. Yes for "x was killed by Y" and for "X is connecting" and for "X disconnected"
