error creating direct3d 9 graphical engine

Recommended Posts

Alright so I downloaded arma 2 co and it seems to work fine when i run the game through steam or even using the shortcut to run it. But the problem is when I try to open up a server through the six launcher i get the message 'error creating direct3d 9 graphical engine'. Is there anyway to fix this?

Thanks.

Same here, i have the same problem. I don't use Steam either. As for Messhall's link http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=8109. I did not know where to put the files after I downloaded them and ran the directx_Jun2010_redist.exe. There was no installation directions, only download directions. Also the Download gave 3 other optional downloads...

I fix this problem frequently by manually installing the beta patches. Then copying the ArmaIIoa.exe from the:

Steam/Steamapps/Common/Arma II Operation Arrowhead/Expansions/Beta

folder to:

Steam/Steamapps/Common/Arma II Operation Arrowhead

overwrite the existing .exe file. Now I recommend backing up the original file.

then use the:

steam properties, launch options (I willl edit mine into here when I get home)

for those not using steam entering that into the shortcut's command line should do the same job.

That should take care of it. If you already have your own launch options set in steam you shouldnt need to change them. Its the moving of the exe file that should solve that problem.

I was able to correct my error by typing this line after my target perimete:

-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -mod=@DayZ;expansion

Note. The .exe I edited was in my Arma 2 Folder. "arma2oa.exe" (make a shortcut to the desktop before editing)

From dealing with the Bad Version error earlier, i played for a bit then ran some errands and came back to find this.. i have trace this around the internets and this issue seems to be effecting AO overall, though on a small scale. this is a very current (today) issue (but was also an issue with beta patch 94444 back in july). i have ran the latest patch, updated AO (again), and updated Dayz through Six Updater. again i think this issue is with AO, and not necessarily the mod. i was able to launch Arma 2 free with no incident. ill report back if there is any progress.

edit** it was deteminded that 94444 was the culprit
