So where is "safe"?

Recommended Posts

So I'm still fairly new, just started a few days ago. Going with the lone wolf style for now, at least until I bump into someone to team up with, which would be very unlikely. I learned pretty quickly the coast is newbie hunting ground. I then headed inland to the north only to find out that's where everyone has great gear and shoots on sight regardless. I'd loved to live off the land and only enter towns I know are safe to enter or at least I know I can handle a firefight, but I can't live off farms and outskirt sheds.

So my question is then, where are some moderately safe areas I can loot until I get all the hunting gear + canteen? I remember seeing a thread about Krasnoskov being a nicer area, but is this true and is there other areas like this?

Also, is Devil's Castle hit up by a lot of people? It's the last castle I have to visit and I'd just like to know what to expect.

I just joined up 2 days ago but I'll help with what I can.

The "safest" areas are going to be the woods, barring woods around airstrip, elek, and the other city I cant remember the name of. An area I've had great luck with is the dam above elektro. It's a good 5-10 minutes above the town so visitors are rare. However that said, you'll have to risk it to go in elektro and atleast collect matches, hatchet, combat knife. Once you get those you can be literally self sufficient.

Castle is a popular place, avoid it. If you'd like I'll team up with you. I have all the essentials and I hoard survival/medical items everytime I enter a town.

There are some places which are generally less populated, but nowhere is really safe per se. You tend to encounter violent people wherever you go. The most dangerous spots are Cherno, Elektro, NWAF, and Stary. Everywhere else comes in second place. Hell, I've encountered and killed people in the absolute sticks. They might have been under the same misguided notion as I was: that traveling the long circuitous routes through the woods would be safer than more direct paths.

Yup, stick to the north woods. Your basic goal when you spawn down south is to get a decent backpack, a hatchet, some food/water and a decent gun. Then it's more or less all North and out of the dregs. Quite a few mid-north cities where you can get great supplies too, but a gamble if you aren't properly armed.

Get a map with loot spots on the Internet. Then find deer stands that are not close to villages or cities. If I'd risk to go to a city, I'd go Berezino. It's shop is pretty easily accessible, the whole city is easily monitored for other survivors from the hills. Sometimes there are a lot of people there, then just don't go. But I was never killed there. Once I even met a French guy and we teamed up and echanged skypes for future.

in the south at the coast espacially at Elektro and cherno there are many newbie players and fresh spawned people that attract the Bandits. In the north are the more experienced and better equipped ones, espacially at military spawns and at cities with a supermarket. Generally speaking the more loot the more players around. Large woods without big cities near are the safest places, but the most boring ones too. If u need good weapons look for Deer Stands. They have not much but military loot and are safe most of the time. For all other stuff look for Barns outside cities. The only Problem is to get medical loot, because hospitals are only in the big cities at the coast or at Medical (mtilitary) Tents that attract lots of players.

I realize the absolute safest spot is in the woods, out of a direct path between towns, but I can't camp there until I get the knife, hatchet, matches, and canteen. So far I've only done this once, looting a dead body I found at the NW Airfield, only to be sniped down on my way out. Just wanted to know if there was any city in particular that was less populated with players that I could hang around until I got geared up. I did find a link to the loot map while on the forums, so that'll be helpful. I'll probably hit up Berezino and Krasnoskov and see what happens; haven't been over there yet so we'll see.

Give Polana or Pustoshka a try. They are not to big, have no military loot points near, but they have a supermarket. So I think they are a reasonable compromise between safety and all the loot a survivor needs.

Berezino is a pretty good place to hit up. Just keep your cool and stay low.

There are some shops and some apartments, they tend to have some decent stuff in them and plenty of supplies, plus a high chance of a decent back pack.

It is one of the lesser occupied cities of the major ones due to the fact that its kinda out of the way and its not near the spawn point.

It is also a fair distance away from the main airfield, which also tends to draw people in.

If you want a good amount of supplies, i'd suggest hitting it up there from the south side.

You are all wrong. The safest places are those little islands just off the coast. Swim there and log off forever. Congratulations, you've survived armageddon (w/ arma addons *buh dum splash*)

"WTF I See you is that fake?"

Nope, this is for real, there are several videos on youtube about it..

Also there's a rumour going on about a demon or kind of a supernatural activity on/around Green hill.

You should ALWAYS watch your back...

They're bound to start adding scary easter eggs similar to this, if they haven't already,

Dont go into the cherno or elektro use DayZ map and raid remote buildings. If you need to go into a town pick the smaller ones. Safe places from zombies are usually in the deep woods, safe place from players does not exist.

Would be quite interesting I suppose. I know I freaked out when I heard the music that sounds like a car approaching and the engine then shutting off. I was probably prone under a tree for a good 15-20 min until I knew there never really was anyone there.

Cities in general are higher risk, and coastal cities are outright dangerous... which is unfortunate, since occasionally you need to scrounge the odd medical supply that has a miniscule chance of spawning anywhere except the hospitals in Cherno and Elektro.

In general the north woods are the safest areas, but some of the northern parts are pretty far from anywhere that has decent supplies- I would want to be well-equipped with food/water/meds/ammo if I want to go in for a long trip. A good compromise are the woods that are slightly north and not too far from cities with supermarkets, so you can find some basic supplies in an emergency.

Closer to loot = closer to death.

The better and more abundant the loot, the more frequent the death.

It's a pretty simple formula.

Is berezino really that dangerous for you guys?

I usually just sprint through the whole town, attract all the zombies and then either gun them down or just run through a building, so i am anything but stealthy - never got shot, even on 40+ servers

Well, maybe we germans are just less violent people (haha, oh wow)
