Lokiz 4 Posted July 20, 2012 I wouldn't have taken the shot, personally. I won't engage someone if there's no need for it.nice, i am the same, will not engage unless i feel threatend, i tried to call out to somone in supermarket other day, his friend appeaerd and i decided that this would go bad, so i double back, only to find they have run around the building i was backing up on to cut me off, shot one 2x in chest with my m14 re circled the building and killed his friend, looted there bodys and hide them.. hope they enjoyed there experience
Lokiz 4 Posted July 20, 2012 Something worth noting, the reason everyone thinks this is a deathmatch and everyone shoots on sight is this:The friendly one's don't camp, and try their best to not be seen. Thus you don't see them much, and think that the game is full of noob snipers/campers/KOS'ers etc. I've observed a lot of people at pretty close range just going about their usual business, but they never knew I was there. And I bet a lot of the friendly, ask questions first, shoot later crowd does the same. So don't get too discouraged guys ;)Also, you can't justify anything based on what might happen in the future... do you sell your car just on the off-chance that the brakes will fail and make you crash? I didn't think so :PYou have to act on what's happening NOW. If you wanna shoot and kill people, fine, but it's completely your choice, you're not pre-empting some action that this person may or may not carry out in the future.exactly mate, to many campers and people just playing like death match, they should bring back the bandit skin

nacrom 82 Posted July 20, 2012 I would not shoot. Yesterday we were in cherno and our over-watch sniper watched a guy enter fire station A. We had two people in fire station B. He asked if he should shoot and I suggested to watch as he would probably run north to the tree-line after picking up a primary. We agreed that if he started heading towards fires station B he was going to have to die. He headed north and lived to see another day completely oblivious to his brush with death. I wonder how many times people have watched me do the same thing. Hopefully they take the same approach.
random51 172 Posted July 20, 2012 DMR is zeroed at 300m. If you took that short-range shot not knowing this you probably would have missed. :) By not taking that shot you might have saved your life.I would have taken the shot. He might have had NVGs or something else I need/want. I caught a poor sap on the ladder of a tree stand near Green Mountain today. Unfortunately he didn't have anything I needed. I did leave his corpse instead of hiding it since he wasn't a bandit.

DarkRaven123 602 Posted July 21, 2012 100% yes.You said you were waiting for your cousin, who had just spawned right?Well right there, a bunch of free gear, including a primary and a secondary, probably a backpack and some food. You need to look out for you and your friends first, everyone else second. Paeyvn 23 Posted July 21, 2012 Myself, I would likely NOT have taken the shot. Only two situations really where I would have:1) I'm starving/dehydrated and out of food/drink2) I can confirm the target is a bandit (recognize name from previous banditry/saw him shoot a bunch of people previous)However, all bets are off if he looks at me. DON'T LOOK AT ME!
Josh225 129 Posted July 21, 2012 I have had many many situations where i havn't taken a shot at someone and it costed my character, I've told the story before but i don't remember what thread so i guess i'll just post one of the situations where i didn't shoot and ended up getting shot.So i was at the Elektro firestation waiting for my freshly spawned friend to link up with me so we could head back north. I was on the foot of the small hill to the south of the station and i had pretty decent cover under and behind a bush and i see what was about 5 or so people only one of them had a gun, looked to be an akm.I just watch this guy with his 4 un-armed partners all walk right past me and at one point i have a completely un-obstructed view of him and i decide that i didn't want to risk my decent gear for somebody thats only good item is an ak so i let them pass. This is where i made a huge mistake. As the guys were moving toward the station gate i move to a crouched position and start to distance myself from them to avoid Mr. akm from possibly seeing me from the firestation tower, i guess he spotted me moving behind the bushes and before i even knew i was spotted i hear the loud cracks as bullets zoom around me and i'm shown "you are dead".Lesson learned. I now shoot if you have a gun.
Kuramashi 22 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Good example Josh. I just recently had a run in with someone who tried to trick me.I was in the hospital in elektro at the top. Guy must have heard me walking cause he asked in direct chat if i was friendly. I said yes and asked him the same. He said he was friendly as well. So he then asked where i was, so i told him hoping to finally team up with someone else outside of my cousin. He came up and started shooting at me... so i took him out and it gave me a murder. Idk if he was a respawned bandit or just someone who doesnt trust anyone(which is understandable)Needless to say, the 'shoot if they see you' idea seems to be the way worth going. I have yet to run into a player that sees me and doesnt try to kill me. Edited July 21, 2012 by Kuramashi
