funky_mish 75 Posted July 18, 2012 When I first started playing DayZ the most intense and therefore most enjoyable part of it was running into another survivor and having that moment of each establishing if the other is friendly or not. The ones I found quite often were. Sometimes we'd team up for a while, helping when the other aggroed zombies etc. Other times we'd immediately go seperate ways. For a long time now there's been nothing like that. If someone sees me, they shoot me 100% of the time. If I go into one of the large towns as a fresh spawn I get shot from windows. I have nothing to loot, I was never a threat or even approaching, I was just killed for the hell of it.I'm all for bandits, and I'm all for killing to survive. But killing on sight for the hell of it is ruining DayZ.
ColdCamV 20 Posted July 18, 2012 If ya bump into someone whos unarmed, just let them pass, I know alot of people do kill them but it just seems low or dog to kill someone who cant defend themselves. Now if someone has an axe and comes running in your direction well then "he came right at me it was self defence that I put a 30 mag clip in him from my AKM"

RevApoc 1 Posted July 18, 2012 The second you start killing on sight, you become just as bad as them. Chances are the people you kill will just get as mad as you did and shoot on sight as well. If you truly hate people who kill on sight, DO NOT ENDORSE IT.The Anti-Bandits Steam Group:http://steamcommunit...groups/TAB-DayZHow do I join the group? The Batman 75 Posted July 18, 2012 I went out of my way to help people when I started and was greeted many times on many occasions with a bullet in the head, an axe to the dome and in one instance even a grenade to the feet as a reward. Most of these were while I was un-armed, or barely armed, and was giving medical assistance to someone because I could.Needless to say, a rampage through Cherno and Elektro with a G17 resulting in approximately 8 or 9 murders made all that anger go away. One guy even jumped off a building to escape me as I executed his friend right in front of him.I am not proud of these actions but I do not feel guilt for the players I killed. I took maybe 30 minutes to an hour game time off them, whereas I had lost hours.I now try to help people but put a bullet in their leg if I think they're acting weird, or a bullet in their head if they turn hostile.Such as the guy that took my AS50 out of my bag after stating he was a "new player". The Batman 75 Posted July 18, 2012 He had beginner's luck -MONSTER Haha maybe, he certainly got to hold an AS50 waaaayyyy sooner than I ever did. Unfortunately the M4 bullets that riddled his face shortly after meant he had no choice other than to drop it :D
Denuth 21 Posted July 18, 2012 As Rocket has stated this is an "experiment" maybe the experiment is coming to a conclusion. How long will people be good before when in a world of bad, they turn bad themselves?

Denuth 21 Posted July 18, 2012 I believe my sig answers your question perfectly... Providing it wasn't rhetorical, of course. Not exactly my thoughts but I do see the comparison. I like the PvP and all I really do. I'm just saying that maybe the experiment is, how many good people will turn bad when subjected to such a harsh place. So ya your sig is not the exact wording I would use but I soppose it works. =D

I for one try to help people but I'm not afraid to shoot if I have to and I won't feel bad about it. But I don't believe in all the KoS bullshit, or killing for the "funsies". Talon2000uk 30 Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) I run with a group of 4 to 8 friends, we have a simple policy, If we spot you first we stop, drop and cover and observe you. If your not a threat we let you pass. If you try to ambush us, engage one of us, or snipe us, we will suppress you, flank you, put a bullet in your head and loot your stuff. KOS has a down side. It's time people realised that. Edited July 19, 2012 by Talon2000uk
CerebralZombie (DayZ) 151 Posted July 19, 2012 You can usually tell with a person and how they speak on the mic if they're actually friendly. If you are as paranoid as you say, then yes, stay away from others! Just sneak around, and don't chase after gun shot in the distance. I haven't ran into many players, unless I've just respawned. Acix says it's a PvP game, but not when you kill people with nothing on them. In that case it's PvN - (Player vs Nothing) Since you're really fighting nothing if the person have no weapon. It all depends on the situation, but i don't mind the PvP aspect, since it's like games where you have to make the right decisions, so sometimes you make the correct decision, and sometimes you don't. It's like one of those RL Stein books. "You're Dead"
ColdCamV 20 Posted July 19, 2012 Great, so i can hide my gun in my backpack to appear unarmed but when you turn your back i just click twice and shoot you in the back. What if i need food, and the unarmed survivor is hiding loads of it in his pack? What if he finds a gun in the next house? At the moment I've found the only weapon you can hide is the hachet and a pistol, now in a sense yes that could very well happen, but thats why it should simply be put, unless you know them personally or have worked together before and trust them, you should NEVER take your eyes off of an unarmed person, if they follow you because they want to team up stay atleast a few feet away from them so they cant get a quick axe hit in and always be mindful of where they are and what their doing. Now as for if they find a gun or you think their hoarding heaps of food thats where it comes down to your moral choice. Do you think their gonna shoot you? if no, do you really want to risk that situation? if they find a gun you have to make the call, do I put my life on the line and trust them and if they kill me accept the fact that that was the choice I made...or do you kill them and not risk dying, knowing deep down you betrayed someone who could have truly been friendly and might of saved your arse in a later situation but it was for, in your mind, the greater good. It's a game after all, these are the decisions you have to face and have to deal with in this world. End of the day its the simple click of a button between you being a killer, or you being killed.

AluCaRdBe 32 Posted July 19, 2012 Sorry Dave, I may have unloaded a few rounds into your forehead but lest we forget, you had a true purpose. You took my murderous virginity.-MONSTERI lol'd.Me and my friends kill everything on sight, because we're assholes? no. because mr makarov COULD turn around and shoot us in the back & get away with an M4A3.Would he have done it? probably not. But its a risk either way."In a post-apocalyptic universe" you're only alive because u took less risks than the other people. The only guy we have ever left alive is a guy now known to us as "hatchet guy", some freshly-spawned toon with nothing more than an axe in a mall. We left him alive for only these reasons:-He stated he was friendly-Only had an axe(hence the name we gave gim)-Was instructed not to move(untill he was ordered to, and never to face us)-He heard us comming and had the balls not to disconnect( guess his balls were made out of the same material as the axehead).- 3 people surrounded him with full auto rifles from about 3 meters awayIf "hatchet guy" would have been "Makarov guy" =>DEADif "hatchet guy" would have taken the alice bag in front of him that i needed=> DEADif "hatchet guy" would have moved in a manner that would have been the slightest threat => DEADWe're not monsters, we just dont want to take the risk. We like people, we would love to have other people run with us, but if i don' t know u irl, i dont trust you, if i don't trust u, ur dead. Simple as.
ajrunke03@gmail.com 30 Posted July 19, 2012 OP, I am just like you. My friend and I have been killed so many times while we're unarmed and unequipped that we have become bandits. We don't really even try. We die. Then we spawn. Then we sprint through the towns and grab a couple cans of food and soda. Then we sprint and look for guns. Then we post up in a populated city and hunt people. Woman, children, men, your pet goldfish. It doesn't matter. We don't discriminate. We KoS whether you have a gun or not. You yell "FRIENDLY!", well we still shoot you in the face. This is our vengeance. If we get killed, oh well. We respawn and do the same thing over.I'll tell you this: the fire fights are incredibly intense and give me far more of a rush than the zombies. I mean, just sprint through town and run through a building and you lose them.
