Using a controller

Okay..before I even start my topic,

1. I searched and found topics about using a controller and what the buttons are..but I did not find one with a tutorial that tells you how to put the file into your game/use it in game.....

2. I do not care what you have to say if you are going to bad mouth me for using a controller. I know that I will not have all of the controls.....all I need is to walk, run, jump, crouch, prone, shoot a weapon, get a weapon, move in all directions, zoom in...all the basic normal stuff....If you are going to post about this game is for PC and I should be using a keyboard and mouse, go ahead but your just going to make yourself look stupid because I have already told you that I DO NOT CARE!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I just got this game today, and I would very much like to meet people and play with them!! I have skype/msn/steam chat to use and I also play xbox 360 =)

Yeah no shit... the game isn't designed to fit onto a 24 button controller. Why the fuck would a PC game automatically map controls to a controller it's not designed for?

Maybe for flying, but game was NEVER meant for consoles or a console controller, at least not for the infantry portion of it.

I was warned for something COMPLETELY subjective. And not for any rules that the moderator linked me to, or informed me of.

I've tried using controllers on Pc shooters before, and trust me man, it won't work well for you >.> but if you wanna do it anyway, try getting a program called Xpadder, once you figure out how to use it, you can easily map the controls you want.

Controllers are really not suited to this game, much like how mouse and keyboards are not suited for a combat flight simulator. You'd be doing yourself a favor by learning to use the keyboard and mouse for a few days.

Heres how I see it, Caviano you have a right to say whatever you want, however you want dude, just the same as everyone who disagrees with your tone has the right to tell you about how they don't like it, but I do think a warning was uncalled for

tl;dr the flame war above this, but as aBipolarTree pointed out, Xpadder is great for for mapping controllers to pc controls.The only problem I've run into with it is that some anti-cheat programs like PunkBuster registered it as a macro and I got banned from a few servers of BF:P4F because of it.

First of all, that isn't ALL you need to be able to do, there is no basic normal stuff with DayZ.

1. There isn't jumping in this game

2. You need to be able to go prone, crouch walk, crouch run, walk, run and sprint, as well as being able to roll when prone

3. You need to be able to lean to look round corners

4. You need to swap from weapon to flares, as well as actually change what weapon you're using (Main and secondary)

5. You need to be able to shoot, reload, iron sight and zoom with weapons

6. You need to be able to use binoculars, compass, watch, GPS, Map, NVGs and a flash light

7. You'll need to chat

8. You need to be able to freelook so you can walk straight forward while still being able to look around

9. You need to be able to quickly navigate through your gear, any loot you find and your back pack

10. You need to have God knows how many different binds for vehicles

11. You'll hardly be able to use the context menu with a game pad

12. You'll not be able to aim as well as you would on a pad as you would with a mouse, no auto-aiming/locking like you get on consoles

1. You should bind the keys yourself so you know what you're actually pressing to begin with

2. There aren't 58431 buttons, and if you think there are you'll definately not be able to map them to a game pad

Just because you CAN play with a controller doesn't mean you SHOULD, it'll cheapen the experience and you'll only come back to the forums whining about how DayZ isn't as amazing as it's made out to be.
