If rocket makes this standalone

Recommended Posts

My question is if I buy arma 2 combined operations for Dayz but than rocket finally makes the game standalone would it be free or will we have to pay? or will the people who got combined operations get it free?

You would have to pay obviously :) Not sure on how much though.

You know if it becomes stand-alone it will be at least a year before it is released.

If its stand alone.. it means your question is like asking if people who bought combined operations

will get arma 3 for free.

I think the answer you are looking for is in the question you have.

you must be stupid , Im asking this because Im afraid The mod will be lost when it goes standalone and no one who bought combined operations will be able to play it .

If I buy Combined operations but dayz goes standalone and the mod is no longer there than I have wasted my money.

If I buy combined operations for dayz but rocket makes the game standalone will we still be able to Play the Mod? Or do we have to play the standalone version?!

Alpha is for testing purpose, we are testers, once this goes standalone we will not be testers anymore. Therefore, to my own knowledge we will have to buy the standalone game :) hopefully I answered that without being a dickhead :beans:

As both client and server files of mod are out, there is no way Rocket may stop you playing it as long as there will be someone willing to run a server (at least at this point server may run without Hive connection).

You're buying a game for a alpha mod, and just for the mod.

You've already wasted your money!

And to answer your question, you'll obviously still be able to play the ARMA Mod of it, but you'll not get new updates, bug fixes or the like, you'll have a stagnant version of a game that will never be returned to once the standalone version is released and Rocket starts batheing in money.

I hope to god if this game goes stand alone it doesn't use the Arma 2 engine.

It is supposed to use Arma3 engine (which looks pretty good imo)

Of course you would have to pay. Rocket isn't making any money off you buying Arma 2

and what you don't get is that the release is literally at least a year away at best. If Dayz is coming arma 3, and arma 3 doesn't come out until 2013, do the math.

No you didn't waste your money.

Simple math and common sense plus that thing called the 'Search...' bar

Lets make this clear

You buy Arma 2, You pay for arma 2. Dayz is a bonus (and a good one) to arma 2 and rocket could end it tomorrow and there is nothing you could do about it. It is a free mod. Dayz is free, its arma 2 that costs money. Rocket owes nothing to nobody and could charge whatever he likes to his standalone game regardless who has arma 2.

If he goes on the Minecraft model, the game would be very cheap in a beta stage, upon actual release the price would rise significantly, he has spoke about taking the minecraft model in many interviews.

You guys who are newcomers to ARMA2 should atleast 1 time look at BASE game ARMA2 - there is sooo meny other cool mods

and also editor atc there is so much to do even without Dayz

Yes Dayz is super fine mod but even super fine mods at one point is starting to be boring - but as I already say it is arma and tons of other mods - it is not BF3, were after 4 weeks when its become total boring onlything what left is waiting and willing next DLC will be super cool

so even if/when DAYZ will become standalone - it wount be waste of your money

Arma 2 is not for everyone, I bought arma 2 a year before the release of dayz and loved most of the time, dayz has actually gotten me back to play regular arma 2. Actually many of my friends who bought arma 2 for dayz are currently playing arma 2
