Loot oversaturation

Recommended Posts

Eventually loot will be so saturated that nothing will be rare. Because things such as nvgs, rangefinders or rare guns do not just disappear (most of the time unless it's a bug) they only exchange hands from player to player. Someone always comes winning out of a fire fight.

When groups/clans get too much loot they store it in a tent/vehicle. Someone will eventually find it and it exchanges hands that way.

The odds are higher to get rare loot from shooting someone than actually finding it.

The consequence of this is obvious.

More kill on sight and oversaturation of loot where a lot of people will have high end gear the longer time goes by.

What are your thoughts? Should measures be taken? Such as degrading of items?

Discuss.

i think its good as is. but the better loot should be north! im rolling a g17 and a AKS 74 kobra and i found it in a fire house. its hard to find GOOD guns on the shore i reckon.

People die often, loot despawns, bugs take away things, small groups stockpile, etc.

NVGs and other goodies are rare enough as is. Let's not make them any harder to find!

Don't forget some duplication bugs... A friend of mine had all of the stuff that was on his character duplicated on the ground (including NVG) when opening a tent.

Not as rare as you think. For a solo player maybe. But not for groups.

Loot doesn't despawn as much as it spawns.

The same way money causes inflation. There will be inflation of loot.

Loot is loot is loot, and "inflation" doesn't necessarily have as adverse effects as monetary inflation. More groups will have higher tier gear, maybe, but that doesn't make the equipment any less valuable.

I play in a group and we raided perhaps the entire northern half of the map today. Drops like NVG, tents and vehicles have low spawn rates and it really comes down to luck. Hitting high yield areas like supermarkets and the NWAF increases your odds of finding epic lewtz, but there's never a guarantee.

IN CONCLUSION, I wouldn't mind spawns to be tweaked but, if they are, I don't want rare items to become rarer. It's simply disheartening and a bit boring to traipse across the map with very little luck in finding goodies. This is all while using the db map to not miss deer stands, heli crash sites, etc.

Yep. It's happened several times to my group. Currently we have five pair of NV goggles. But the best way to keep that stuff safe is to have it on your character.

My entire tent was wiped, all the gear I had collected was gone. I had just stored all my stuff inside because I was bleeding out and didn't feel like wasting a bandage. Logged out after killing myself and the next day everything was just gone.

Now, I didn't have the greatest loot. Although, if it happens to me I am sure it will happen to others and those mass storage of good will simply vanish.

(My tent was put up after 1.7.2 update)

True, these items get spawned, someone loots them, and then they stay in the game, being traded bandit to bandit. Although you can always destroy these items by raiding camps and razing everything. I've lost a lot of good gear just from bugs too.
