Zombies at Helicopter Crash site...

Recommended Posts

So I have been playing Dayz for 3 or 4 days and one of my goals was to find a Helicopter crash site.

I finally found one this morning! I had a double barrel shotgun and a total of 8 rounds. I saw 3 zombies near this helicopter crash site in full military gear. As I was low crawling to the crash to find some sweet loot I agroed a zombie that was laying in wait for me, apparently. So I get some distance and pump a 12ga round into his chest. He didnt even flinch, so I sunk another round into him and nothing. By this time the other 3 zombies are licking their chops and heading towards me. I put all 8 rounds in these fools and couldnt kill even one of them.

Why?

Are they wearing armor?

Maybe this double barrel shotgun just sucks butt?

It should still kill them, even if it sucks^^

I would say that was just server lag/a bug.

You can also kill them with other crappy weapons with 1-2 shots!

Either there was a glitch or you suck butt with the shotgun. The shotgun is bad but if you hit them in the chest its still a one shot kill. If blood came out when you shot at them and they didn't die...Run

Just my luck! I was so happy because I hear that the crash sites have some of the best loot.

found 2 crash sites last night and put down 3 zombies no problems with head shots (i only kill what i need to and hide the bodies im sneaky like that, helps i have a silenced weapon)

desync, lag, bad aim ...... or a combo im guessing

Foolishly explored green mountain yesterday and had to deal with 7 or 8 in the end, the double barrel shoty was faultless. All single shot kills with the furthest maybe 10 metres away.

So not the weapon in my opinion, definitely sounds lag related.

Probably just server lag.

Don't worry. If you are exploring up north you'll usually always find a crashed helicopter or two. You just need to find them first :)

I found the DB shotgun a bit poo from a distance?! and there were few zombies compared to when I find a crashed chopper, I usually get 8 zeds, then once ive killed them they spawn a minute after again.

Where the hell are you guys finding the downed choppers. I roam everywhere and cannot for the life of me see them.even the ones on the db map are not there.

Yeah, mostly North. Just look for the green zombies, dead give away har har. Other than that though, it can be a pain to see a chopper in the forests lol I have nightmares of potentially running flat out into a whole spawn of those SoB's in some pitch black forest at night. Really more the luck of the loot still and whether you found it first or not though. So keep your hopes dashed until you lay your hands on that FN-FAL or AS50 and gtfo alive ;)

I've noticed at deer blinds that using a loud weapon (in this case an Enfield) not only draws the other zombies to you, it spawns new ones. I had to kill 9 zombies when I carelessly failed to notice one.

we once looted a helicopter without guns. We being 2 people. It was getting dark and we threw road flares to draw the zombies away. First flare zombies get drawn to it, next flare a bit further and a bit further till you are clear enough to loot.

Oner person watches that the zombies don't come back, other person loots.

And THIS is why I'm not the only noob carrying road flares lol Awesome use of them.

Found one this morning. It was pretty easy to snipe the zombies off with the Kobra. I did get a wave of about ten, it seemed, then shortly another wave,... Then a third.

I shot up the first two groups, then just let the third one spread out while I searched around the wreck.

Someone else had clearly been there, as I only found an M14 in the grass.

Apparently, they spawn in fields pret much anywhere, but I hear around Stary and Vibor is where they can mostly be found.

I usually stand on a tower in Cherno and light the entire town up. Zeds just don't know what the f@#k to do.

I've had that, While running throughh certain areas, the zeds just seem to lose interest. Or it could be the running around I do, weaving in and out. Never at a crash site though, they are Always hungry.

I like to run into Crashsites so the spawn just starts, 1 grenade later, I dash in and grab, then run like fook due to the insane spawn time.

Helicopter crashes have, potentially, some of the best weapons in the game such as the L85 with thermal scope.

They have dozens of potential spawn sites in open areas like flat plains and cornfields so you have to get close enough to "activate" the spawn when running through an area. You can't sit 1000 metres away and make it spawn by scouting the horizon with binoculars. Have to get within a certain range of the spawn location.

We looted quite a few helispawns. Sometimes the zombies seem to respawn though. We looted up a helisite without shooting the spawned zombies (was about 5 walking around) and after we bugged out back to the treeline, I turned around and saw 6-7 zombies freshly spawn (stacked ontop of eachother). Not sure why that happened, but potentially another player entered the nearby area and caused more zombies to respawn. We couldn't spot any though so we didn't want to tempt fate and we rolled out of there.

Ontopic;

Yes the DB-shotgun is one of the worst guns in the game due to range and also because the ammo takes a full inventory slot for just 2 shots. Complete waste of slots. Try getting a winchester, it's awesome with 15 shot mags, fairly low noise (125m audible range), and it has decent damage and range, especially with slugs.

And yeah, the heli crash sites is the goldpot if you are looking for military grade equipment and weapons. Better gear than the airfield and for the most part alot safer to loot than running into the sniper-nests that airfields are.
