I really hope not. Next thing you'll be wanting to change weapon loadouts on startup and everything else that happens when people are allowed too much control of their server.

You can't do it all daytime without changing server settings.

There's a reason why DayZ has flashlights, Flares, NVG's and Chemlights.

WTF guys? No one wants to play, when its night on a server, its fucking lame, Daytime all the time is a good idea, and i know a few servers. Its a bit tricky but makable. Cause i know no one would play on a server when its night!

Because by stopping time, you screw with the hive, then you screw with loot spawns and zombies on all other servers.

Because distance and time is part of the engine. Because you use time of day to navigate. Because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, which you can use to find north, when you travel without a compas.

You sir are not very smart in my book. Considering the fact that at night both people and zombies can not detect you as well as in daytime I would say it is much better to play at night. SURE you may be blind if you don't have flares, chems, or a flashlight. But well, who doesn't have a flashlight?

Regarding the question, I would read what others have posted above me.

.... how does this effect loot spawns and zombies on other server? It doesn't at all.

Day Z has a purposeful day/night cycle, so no. Nothing else to really say.

No, as someone has said, servers get blacklisted for tampering with the server/mission to get permanent daytime.

You don't need to tamper with anything you silly willies. The time of the server is based of your own system time. If you want to keep your server constantly day (or night) or even evening, here's how:

  • Setup an auto restart script, whether it's batch, BEC, whatever, set it up so at certain intervals each day your server restarts.
  • Then just add this line BEFORE the server startup line to a batch file:

:time HH:MM:SS
:Note the syntax. HH = Hour MM = Minute SS = Second
:So if we wanted to set the time of the server to noon each restart, simply use something like this:
time 12:00:00

done!

Oh I bet those logs will be fun to go through with shifting cycles.

Yea that can be a pain, but if you time it correctly on the right interval, you can make up a formula to store logs. I actually rotate the log files at the same time, and add time on to compensate for the time change since my restarts are every 6 hours :).

It's funny that soon you won't be able to even keep 24/7 daylight. I'm sure one dayrocket will take that power away from you just like he's taken fucking everything else from people paying over 40 a month to host his game. Smooth move kiwi.
