sIDeATSgAMMA 2 Posted July 16, 2012 Hey all, just want to start by saying well done to Dean Hall and his team, this is truly one of the more interesting gaming experiences I've ever had.Ok, so some of my other favorite games are in the stalker series. It seems to have a similar feel despite being single player. So here is my idea. I really like the freedom of dayz and I would hate to see scipted events/content forcing you to play this like other games. Some may remember that in stalker you had random events come over your radio. It would chirp on and say something like "we need help, come to location such and such" then when you got there there was a bandit firefight etc.Not saying add AI bandits, but imagine cruising along in dayz, having a sweet time, all of a sudden an event is announced in some town you're near, a mass zombie attack, or some helicopter crash, or something. Then a countdown begins. Give it say 20 minutes. That way only people in the area can get there, on a server with say 40 people, you might get 5,6, maybe 7 people able to get there in time. Do they battle it out for the extra loot (forgot to mention) available, or work together or what? It keeps the freedom of the game and allows a greater idea of choice, do I go to the event know ing the greater risk, am I equiped to do it etc?Just a thought, let me know what you guys think.
hazedaze 89 Posted July 16, 2012 HII am a big fan of stalker games as you. Atmosphere is almost identical - only multiplayer. would be great to have random events like you said in stalker. also there were suggestions about having a radio in game or making radio towers useful I cant remember the post I would link it to you. anyway it would be nice. to have a 4-5km ranged radio in your inventory and hearing these kind of events.
NightStalkerNZ 8 Posted July 16, 2012 i think that's a good idea. should be explored for sure.
m.w. vindicator 880 Posted July 16, 2012 I scoffed when I saw the title but you pleasently surprised me. Nothing too important but a side mission. A player would need a radio to be notified although if a player didn't have a radio that player could still participate if he/she discovered the scene manually. Also the mission should be extremely risky for the reward. Lots of Zeds and players converging on a location would be VERY risky.
sIDeATSgAMMA 2 Posted July 16, 2012 Another aspect of stalker that i really enjoyed was the 'safe' areas. If dayz could implement it, then you'd have somewhere to go and show off your gear, meet other player, maybe form a team before heading back out. You'd have to leae your weapon at the door or something, however not sure how to implement as I can imagine snipers setting up outside and following you, or just shooting you. zipper 69 Posted July 16, 2012 Safe areas would kill this game. They would be giant death traps going in or out of them. They would remove the main aspect about this game. Survival. You now have a place where you don't have to worry about that. No thank you, I don't want to destroy DayZ.
