The other night a guy opened up on me and my friend with a 5.56 AR of some kind. He killed my friend but only wounded me in the leg, so I turn around and fired 15 FAL rounds at his position in burst mode. Next thing I know he is NOWHERE to be seen, and I have no kills on my debug monitor. I waited a few minutes, but he definitely disconnected.

Cowards.

I've had some pretty annoying encounters, some people being so pussy-shit that they will spawn in common snipe spots, take a few shots and then alt-f4 immediately just in case there is an OFF CHANCE that they get caught. It's amazing how quickly it takes you out of your immersion when the player you're shooting at suddenly disappears.

On the upside I had a great encounter with a trio in the church in electro yesterday. My sniper buddy had them locked down in the church and I came around with my AK only to be surprised by the 3 of them rushing at me even though my sniper friend was pumping shots close and into them. Was great fun and got my heart pumping. I miss when it wasn't such a wide spread problem.

If you ever run into [sQUAD] clan I can pretty much guarantee they will alt out or run to lobby if you get the jump on them. Probably the single most cowardly clan in DayZ, not to mention they all seem to have ghillies and m107s every time I run into them. Usually on EU40, not sure if they have been banned, haven't seen them on for a while.

Other than that clan in particular I've been pretty lucky. Most of my confrontations have been up against worthy opponents with some balls to stand and fight.

I've seen them before... well.. one of them.

However, OT... I've never had a D/C.. and if I did.. I don't' remember it. Gotta love my main server :)

I have a bigger problem when I do actually kill someone only to see their body sink into the ground.

What a waste.

I've had around 10 encounters with Alt-F4 players, always camping NW or Stary.

I don't encounter many players through my journeys so it's fairly annoying to get the drop on a bandit sniper and waste ammo for nothing.

Everyone I have come across in the past few days has alt+f4'd. Or would've if I didn't one-shot them.

That feel when a sniper in stary with an AS50 and ghillie suit is afraid of a Czech Backpack wearing survivor with an Enfield.

Admittedly, I had already made 2 others in the area ALT+F4 and the Enfield actually is scary ;)

90% in my case, we even had a squad of 4-5 against us who disconnected, then relocated, then disconnected, then relocated, i mean what is the mentality of those guys? i wont disconnect no matter WHAT gear i have on me, i dont see the point, if you die you die, you made a mistake and gotta live with it, end of story.

But i guess we are gonna get lucky sometime.

These people aren't playing DayZ for the experience, or the tension and excitement, they're just playing to 'win'.

People relog behind you, disconnect, relocate etc.

Rocket needs to get on top of this, no more pandering to people who won't play fair.

They're almost on the same level as people who cheat and 'hack'.

Unfortunately, Rocket said in his latest interview that whilst it is a problem he's not going to spend much time addressing it in the Day Z mod as it is quite difficult and would require significant amounts of work, whereas problems like these will be easily addressed once Day Z is standalone.

He's not going to be able to balance /test the game properly with this exploit IMHO.

I know, its my No. 1 problem with the game and my No. 1 wish to be fixed.

Eventually he will stop updating Day Z mod and be working full time on the standalone. I just hope its fixed before the mod is abandoned. Otherwise its going to be a very long few months.

Well it's going to be a year before we see DayZ as a standalone, it'll likely be on the arma 3 engine and that isn't out until like 2016 or something.

So unless he finds something, anything, to tide the mod over until he pushes out a standalone, then it's just going to get so frustrating trying to play that people will get bored.

DayZ is the immersion, when that breaks and people just vanish, it's blows. Hard.

I'd say 9 out of 10 people I engage will alt F4 unless I hit them with the .50 cal, and then I'd say 10 out of 10 people I engage end up dead and are still furiously mashing alt and f4 while looking at the you are dead screen. Bitches. All of them.

Rocket has said he would like to see a stand alone by the end of the year. This isnt some massive AAA production. Its going to be made by pulling parts of the ARMA III engine out, and then adding in the few features he wants in Day Z. It shouldn't take too long at all.

edit: I used too many definitives.

edit2: ARMA III is out 2013.

I actually caught two dudes on a roof at over 300m and they sat there and took the 20 rounds i sent down range. Eventually hit them well enough to die. They died as brave men, i salute them.
