IRL in the apocalypse any group would ban you for killing for lulz and you will die alone. Say again there would be NO consequences IRL ?

if anything, if you shoot someone IRL, then it haunts you or something, doesn't' it? like you question your humanity? like, you constantly think about the person that you killed, if it was right to do it, what would happen if you didn't...? i don't know, i've never killed anybody.

I was sniping some zombies in cherno, they were chasing these two chaps trying to get to the tents. They suddenly took cover, after 10 minutes they ran to the tents then opened fire at me with a pistol and shotgun at 200 meters. Then I shot them dead.

The only way to help someone is to help and run, otherwise they'll go ahead and bite the hand that feeds them. Survivors are like a dog with rabies in that regard.

Today, me and a group of mine found another survivor. We got him surrounded and asked if he was friendly. 10 seconds later he had still not responded, an started aiming his AKM at one of us. Then we shot him without hesitation :P

Many clans can be really mean, and you should probably never expect a group of people to be friendly. They have each other and that is basically enough for them.

The fact that you helped them, instead of just assasinating them all, gives me faith in a better DayZ.

1. there is nothing else to do -> mods fault

2. I dont get punished in any way -> mods fault

3. I get extra loot or better weapons -> mods fault

Yup. That's the way it goes.

It is a game (or anti-game, or mod, or social experiment, or alpha, or whatever you want to call it) - and people will play a game as they see fit within the game's rule set (and some a-holes even exploit outside those rules).

And apparently one of the major rules for this game is that there is no rule about killing, you are allowed to kill others at your own discretion. So, people do it. No surprise there. And yes, it's a bitch for those who would like to have another kind of experience, but they really should just blame the game for that, not the people playing by the game's rules.

If this game had achievements.. I'm sure one of them would be the "Get killed 10 times by some random player while you are unarmed". I think I would have been a proud owner of that achievement since yesterday. Is it those player's fault who shot me? No. Its just a (mis)feature of the game... And I've adapted to it by shooting others as well, sometimes even the unarmed ones - at my own discretion. Just waiting for the game to change the rules. Hopefully that happens soon.

I don't know why this is surprising. You saw FIVE GUYS, and you thought they needed help killing zombies at a heli crash? So you open up and shoot near them and you are shocked that they shot you? I'd have shot you too.

First off the chances of five guys wanting you anywhere near their loot piles at the chopper are pretty slim, and secondly even if you said friendly you still shot near/at them. What would you have done if you were looting a high tier loot area and some guy just opens up out of nowhere from off in the distance?

Rocket will come up with a remake of the humanity system eventually. Have faith :) The problem he has is making it both realistic and fair to both partys. I love player interaction in this game even if it turns out hostile. My advice to you archangel is to be more sneaky when you see a player. Grass and trees are your friend, use them well. Get the drop on your target or wait for them to pass. Bearing in mind if they head the same way as you, its probably better to kill them here, than to BE killed by them a mile up the road,

Grass isnt rendered at the distance -> useless any only hurts you in the first person mode.

You cant think of Day Z like its a game... this is the fucking zombie apocalypse! Put yourself in their shoes, you have some people you know and trust and you find a crashed military heli, while approaching it gets kinda sloppy, but with 5 guys the group is able to deal with it. Suddenly, some random person you dont know comes up, shouting friendly, firing their weapon.

Now you have 2 choices, share the loot from the chopper you found, YOUR loot, or kill him now and never look back .

You dont know this person, you dont know if they are trustworthy, but youve seen enough zombie movies and know people well enough that its only a matter of time before this person either goes nuts and attracts a shitton of zombies that take out a chunk of your group, he stabs you in the back, or best case ends up knocking up your girlfriend.

No matter how it plays out, its not going to be good and there will be death. The only logical course of action is to kill him right away to prevent the eventual drama filled, horrific betrayal. (great stuff for movie plot lines, bad for your chance of survival)

If you want to be friendly and group up with people, find people who are solo and want a partner. Even then, you run the risk of getting shot on sight, but thats all part of the game.

Trust no one, rely on no one but yourself. This is how you survive, look out for #1

This game in no way represents reality or what "people are really like". It represents what people are really like in video games with no rules.

Probably best to stop comparing reality to zombie movies too.

It sucks you got shot for trying to help and it sucks otherwise friendly people are so trigger happy.

For now, avoid people if you don't want to die or try to realize that your gear has no real value and it's ok to be murdered for having a value system because you can respawn and get new gear. Your murderers will die soon too.

Try not to become another cynical survivor.

It's just a game :D

Okay dick, I snuck up to the helicopter and told them "Friendly here to help, dont shoot"

Then they killed me

First off, that's only half the equation. You know YOU'RE friendly, you made no effort to find out if THEY'RE friendly. On the flip side, just because you SAY you're friendly doesn't mean shit to that group. You could just be waiting for an ideal moment to backstab them for all they know -- leading them into a trap, killing them when they're all looking the other way (or looking for some outside sniper while you dome them all), giving their location away to your actual group, etc.

Also the marginal utility they gain from +1 to their group is almost nil. Once you have enough people to give overwatch, buddy system, etc, there is no real benefit to adding another player, and only risk when that additional player is a stranger.

Head over to survivor HQ and see the cool things that are being done. And don't be stupid in the future.

I hate saying it because I thought DayZ was a survival Sim when I first started playing too. It isn't, as Rocket has stated it is whatever the community makes it and the community has figured out that you should always shoot anyone you see before they can shoot you. You'll have a lot more than some matches and food the next time you have a chance to murder someone. Anyone else who doesn't attack either realizes they are at a disadvantage, or is new to the game.

I came to help you guys,

but forgot to communicate to you what my intentions are and just went in guns blazing.

There were around five of you at a helicopter crash, getting overrun. I shot at the zombies and killed them for you. You fucking pieces of crap then turned and shot me after i finally got food, water, weapons and matches for the first time. People like you ruin this game.

Which is sad. Hopefully the intended additions Rocket has mentioned changes the game. Personally, if it stays as a PVP centric game like it currently is, I won't be buying it. I'm still hopeful it all buffs out. :)

I like the game, its just ruthless people who kill for no reason or pretend to be nice and kill you just ruin it

This is exactly why I like this game. Don't get attached to your gear. And please stop whining on the forums right after something you don't like happened to you.
