Adjusting the looting system (response to loot cycling system)

Recommended Posts

I did a search and I couldn't see a tread about this idea, but I've been watching the discussion about loot cycling and in addition server hoping. I've also watched Rocket talk about this on interviews.

It may have been suggested before but my idea is simple, move valuable loot to dead zombies rather than areas on the ground. Basic items such as food, water, basic supplies, and low end weaponry, or gas/machine parts could still spawn the old way, but all your military gear and ammo must be taken off dead zombies.

Further more, increase the number of zombies to increase the difficulty of farming them, in areas where better loot is more likely to drop. This forces more team cooperation and always makes players work for it.

I think the rarest gear should be placed on a random roaming zombie hoard. Every time this massive hoard kills a player or finds new zombies a zombie with that players gear is added. Increasing its lethality and reward.

May need to implement a "mass loot bodies in area" function so the rapidly disappearing bodies don't disappear before you can loot them.

Sorry for any typos I'm on my tablet.

It would make sense if military zombies tended to spawn with side-arms more often, at least.

I mean, they ARE soldiers, how did you expect them to die?

Some might have no weapons because they were bitten and changed over time somewhere. (ie. Medical tents)

Some might have side-arms because they spent their last moments defending themselves.

But weapons should still spawn on the ground, because people do throw away their weapons if they're no use anymore or just ran. Or if they were killed, the zombie wouldn't knowingly pick up the weapon they dropped as humans.

Yeah, but military often have their weapon attached to them either by sling or strap and we often don't find weapons in places where people abandoned them and often are found with their ammunition. If it was needed to be realistic you would find them next to dead bodies of military people or in an armory. Not in deer stands, fire stations, grocery stores (unless its like the Midwest where you have a hunting department), and other places where we find them now. To me it would actually make more sense to have it on zombies rather than some random spot on the ground where it just appears.
