Time lock on hiding player corpses

Recommended Posts

I've been hearing more stories about bandits hiding a players body right after killing them to deny any equipment recovery and then immediately logging out to avoid dying themselves. This has even happened to myself once when I had an M240, NVG's and full kit.

My simple suggestion: Put a 15-30 minute lock on player corpses to prevent the immediate hiding of bodies and bringing a halt to this griefing method.

Whats the realism in that?

If your going to kill someone, and don't want people to know, you hide the body..

Time locking just so the person can attempt to get their stuff back is almost as bad as not losing your stuff at all. Since most players flee after looting the corpse, the majority of players will get their stuff back anyways, if they were smart..

On a similar note, DayZ is not fun when you have a very good chance of keeping your items, death and restart is part of the experience, such as "What could i do better next time?" and "Which direction should i go after i loot ?"

Its part of the game, get used to it.

Where's the realism in being able to sink a body straight down into the ground and vanishing into hammer space all in under 10 seconds?

You don't want a time lock on corpses, okay, instead lets make it take the bandit half an hour to dig a hole and bury the body in it, oh and require him to have an entrenching tool to do so, and while we're at it why don't we completely disable alt-f4 and server disconnecting so they can't just disappear into thin air when your friends are about to ventilate him with a belt-fed. That's more realistic, right?

Now that actually sounds great! Let's get this done!

I want to know how'd you explain knowing where your corpse was though? Yeah you as you obviously know where. But how does your newly spawned guy know? I don't know maybe I'm taking this rp thing to far. Hehe.

I think the whole Hide Body-thing should be removed from DayZ. Let players be able to drag bodies and hide them that way instead.

Sounds to me like someone got mad because they were denied a prize. If I need a trench shovel to bury a body (which I'm fine with, I have one) then let me also destroy dead bodies and their loot with frag grenades.

Remove hide body and add drag body.

Actually' date=' I think I like this a lot more than time locking the hide command! Thanks guys.

 The bandit was mad because he didn't have time to loot my body and so if he couldn't have it, no one could?

As for destroying stuff, yeah I think that would be an interesting addition. So, you see a guy with NVG's that you want, so you snipe him in the head with a CZ. Congrats, you just destroyed the NVG's when your bullet went through his noggin and into the NOD. Kill someone with a frag? Probably trashed his rifle, pack and most of the goods contained there-in.

Recently I had read a post about two people who got ambushed. One went down, and the other hid his body to deny the prize before successfully escaping. I had left this thread open, and I must have confused the two. My mistake.

No worries. In this instance I was killed, and the bandit hid my corpse and quit out in a matter of seconds before my seven (yeah, we had a whole damned posse for this expedition) friends could hose him.
