Backpack confusion?

Recommended Posts

I've been messing around with my backpack, trying to put things in it and so far i learned that i can only place items in it if i pick them off the ground. I dont seem be able to just move stuff from my Inv to my backpack but must drop them on the ground first. I must be doing something wrong here right?? Or is the inventory system this fubar??

First click on the image of your backpack. Then at the bottom click open backpack. Then use the arrows to transfer stuff back an forth. Then Close Backpack. Good luck.

To put stuff in the backpack from your inventory you need to open it with G then click the bag and at the bottom of the window click on open. Now you can arrow across the items you want to put in the bag. You will see a number at the top op the item list that looks something like 5/20, the first number is the spaces left and the second is total slots in the bag.

I'd suggest moving away from items on the ground before you open your pack to lessen confusion.

When you open your pack, it should show items in the list on the left if your inventory - some will have numbers on the left side of the list, which means they're in the pack. Numbers on the right mean the item is in your base inventory (normal inv, toolbelt, etc). To move an item between your inventory and pack, click the item in the list and use the arrows to either side of it - left arrow moves it to your pack, right arrow moves it out. At the top of the list you'll see the name of your pack, followed by two numbers which are the free/total slots in that pack (eg; Coyote Patrol Pack - 4/8, means you have 4 slots out of 8 free in your pack).

If you access items on the ground first, and then open your pack, you will be presented with a better, icon style, view for the items in your backpack along with the list on the left. The difference here is that numbers on the left of the list will indicate the ground, with the numbers on the right the pack.

It's confusing at first, but take things slow and remember NOT to transfer weapons from the ground to a pack unless you want to risk losing them - a main weapon like a rifle requires 10 slots, and a sidearm requires 5. That means, attempting to transfer a rifle to the standard Coyote Patrol Pack (the one you start with) will destroy the weapon. Transferring either type of weapon to a pack that has insufficient space will likely do the same.
