Each update character reset why?

Hello,

I've noticed with each udpate that gets released, like biggish ones the characters get reset?

Why is this the case?

To be honest I think it's a stupid thing. Me and friends have spent hours getting to a specific location with specific kit only to be reset with an update... Personally it's a stupid idea and should just carry over.

It's Alpha, bugs are prevalent and you're going to lose your gear a lot. Deal with it.

It is an update, not a total new game.... Updates are released all the time for games but never lose anything.

Even if the game wasn't in alpha. I'm sure people would lose their gear alot. Just...in a different way xD.

As far as I know character resets weren't part of the update? I'm sure you're just victim to a bug.

I have not had my character reset from any of the last 3 updates, but I also make sure to only join servers that are on the same DayZ version and Arma 2 OA Beta version as I am.

Well, the funny thing about developing a playable alpha is that, inevitably, you need to rework the infrastructure!

And a part of that involves deleting every goddamn thing in sight. Or doing an intentional rollback to test certain aspects of the leveling or difficulty curve, such as would happen in a more traditional MMO alpha.

Also, sometimes it just happens for no reason and is an unfortunate accident.

At least some kid didn't manhandle your beans while yelling shrilly, amirite?

It has something to do with the debug forest spawn bug... at least that was my issue with 1.7.1.

I kept spawning in the debug plains and everytime it happens, I'd have nothing... literally nothing, not even a backpack.

Happened to me like 3-4 times on the way from 1.7.1.1 to 1.7.1.5

Rocket is a great guy for what he has done, but I have an issue with the general part of the game, so I have expressed it and then people/ kids like you come in and destroy the topic and community and makes it go down hil..

I've made a few posts and had alot of negative back.

Also I've seen an awful lot of negative posts from alot of users in these forums, and neverseen so much before.

It is sad because it puts me off visiting these forums and I am sure others feel the same.
